Ulloa to Southampton for £6.5m?

Do you honestly think we will have 10m to spend ? what usually happens is the new manager will get half of that amount.
So far TB seems to have been spending up to the FFP limit, and with the limit coming down next year I'd expect him to spend up to that limit too. So whatever comes in, I'd expect us to spend.

[QUOTE .... at 28 Leo could well be at or near his peak, hardly over the hill. There's been a ridiculous rewriting of history re: Ulloa over the last season, EXACTLY as there was for Murray when he left us. He's a QUALITY striker with an excellent strike rate.[/QUOTE]

I couldn't agree more: I'd much rather he stayed. I spent most of last season hoping to see him and CMS play alongside: when they did the result was a classic goal...

TB seems to spending indeed upto the FFP limit, and with the limit coming down next year I'd expect him to spend upto that limet too. So whatever comes in, I'd expect us to spend just a fraction of that previous spend limit that we had before the limit came down, however now the spend limit has decreased I expect we don't have anywhere near as much spending power as we have been spending before our previous spend limit.... It's all about spending power !! I think we are a spent force now though, what do you think ?

I think our shot at making the big time was under Gus, can't see any managers or coaches being given the backing he was and so our chances of promotion will continue to diminish IMO.

I will go into this season expecting little but hoping for a promotion push but I don't think we'll be in with a shout in reality.

You'll be probably right but It infuriates me seeing so many players leave and clubs making insulting bids. We need to hold out for maxuim money as we need so many players for the new season and if Leo goes then we're left with just CMS. We've been looking for another striker for how long now we'll need another two. Seems like we're on a merry go round and the thing isn't stopping.

I understand where you're coming from, and we do have a tendency to let players go cheaply, but how would you feel if we hold out all Summer to get an extra million, then have no time to spend it and end up with another panic buy like Dobbie?

If we're going to sell Ulloa then we need to do it soon, so the new manager gets time to bring in who he wants with the windfall. It's a worry though, strikers are so expensive and hard to find, unless we get lucky then I can't see us replacing him for less than £3 million. At which point you have to wonder if it's worth it, knowing that Leo is guaranteed to score goals for us.

I think you're drunk.

Regarding the football though, I think it would be really useful to have a manager. It's impossible to judge next season when our team has been so decimated. I do think there's a chunk of money to spend, but I see the main problem as getting a striker, as they're in such short supply.

If we were holding out for an extra million, then we'd be expecting him to go, so we'd be lining up a replacement now anyway. We (the management) just need to know if he's going, so they can plan.

Like we did when Barnes left.

I can't see Cardiff selling Grabban just yet!

From BBC: "Meanwhile, the Cherries have had no further approaches for top scorer Lewis Grabban.

Cardiff City had a bid accepted earlier this month but have since signed Adam Le Fondre from Reading and former Manchester United forward Federico Macheda"

Didnt TB say he had a 5 year plan and we have neither reached that 5 year limit or got a team good enough yet. Even on last season and the previous one we are about 3 established players short.

He did indeed and if I remember correctly, that 5 year plan started in our last season at Withdean when he said he wanted to be in the Championship for our first season at the Amex and in the Prem in 5 years. So hang onto your hat's guys, TB is planning on going up in the coming season.

Serious question, is he really good enough to play in the Prem? I only saw him in action once last season on tele. Is he genuinely a good player?

He's scored in every game against prem teams in the cup, he got 16 for us this season with 2 months out injured. If he gets decent service he will score plenty.

No, he is abysmal.

Could you start a fan campaign on your message boards about how woeful a signing he'd be please? Plenty of use of 'lack of ambition from the board' should do it.

Well, that depends on whether we get our traditional stripes back next season ;)

Hope you do, the 'new' kit was very disappointing.

In relation to Ulloa, he's a smart player, we've mainly had him playing solo up front, good in the air, can dribble, assured first touch. Main weakness is he's not very pacy, but it didn't stop Lambert scoring for you in the Prem.

Ulloa has a good conversion rate of chances to goals, if you exclude penalties. He should not go near them. Most times if he gets a couple of good chances in a game he will put one of them away. He scores important goals, regularly. Hence his value. His overall play is nowhere near the standard of what one would expect for the price but it is goals that count at the end of the day.
