Leicester Bid £3 /£5/£7.5 million for Ulloa

I just don't see it as a choice. He'll know that we aren't going to really go for it next season as we won't/can't risk the club's well being on a gamble like that. In any case, why would he want to give it another season when he can get an immediate chance with Leicester, be played regularly and be paid shed loads of money? What if he picks up a bad injury like last year with us and misses his chance completely?

Would love him to feel that he wants to stay with us and that he would be happy for us to turn an offer like that down but just don't believe it.

It's not his choice though, it's the club's. He may be pissed if he misses the opportunity to play in the Prem next season, but he won't be the first and keeping hold of him should be seen as a statement of intent that we are serious about making a challenge next season. Only Ulloa himself knows how he'd really feel about that, so no point second guessing.

I'm only guessing here but I'd very much doubt the £7m (if true) would be a straight cash offer. It's already likely to include some add-ons, if-we-stay-up clauses, etc

I do not think the club would turn down 7 million, they have just offloaded 6 players and will need to rebuild the team. My view, let's get 10million for Ulloa and Buckley and invest that money on young talented players for the future. We have already shown that our DS squad is good at bringing players on, the money would allow the new manager to get a mixture of experienced and young players and rebuild.

I don't, but I do know that there'll be a long list of scouted players that would suddenly become well within our budget if we had 7m to spend.

There are also clubs that keep their better players and sell the ones they wish to off-load. We are not talking about Buckley (who probably is dispensable), we are talking about our main (and arguably only), goal threat. Of course you can argue the Burnley case, but they had to sell, given their parachute payments had finished. It was pure luck that Vokes hit form at the same time as Ings, whilst both had been useful, neither had been 'that' established prior to last year I would suggest.

Sorry disagree, not bothered about the PL. More interested in the club being financially secure and competitive in this league. Parachute payments and FFP are going to make it harder to challenge for the PL as clubs keep within a budget the clubs coming down are going to have millions to spend. Anyone of the 3 clubs coming down will have 60million plus, they could easily afford 15million to spend on transfers, we could not compete with that. I know people will say that the clubs coming down will have bigger wages to pay, however I think more clubs will have get out clauses for relegation, meaning they can cut their cloth accordingly straight away. FFP will eventually see the same clubs going up and down

Being competitive in this league and not making a loss are mutually exclusive. The EPL is the only place you make money.

Absolutely it's the club's choice and it would also be a firm statement of intent if we turned down all offers. However, it's not only the impact on the player in terms of his attitude but also how that may affect others and also players we are trying to attract. Whilst the club is theoretically in control they really have little choice; players and their agents have that now, unless they're rubbish.

I've no idea how Ulloa really feels about the club and his time here but I'd be very surprised if he just got his head down and committed 100% to the cause if he felt that he'd been prevented from furthering his career.

Disagree, just because you are in the PL does not make you a club that is in profit. Are you telling me all the clubs in the premiership are making money and are financially secure. QPR came into this league in financial trouble last season.

And they sold him for £4m. As much as I love Ulloa, if the figure is £7m, we really ought to take it. And I say this ultimately because I trust the club's infrastructure to find a suitable replacement. After all, they got Ulloa for £2m, and signed him on a four-year deal. It makes you wonder what we could do with £7m.

I would hate, hate, hate to lose Leo. I'm just hoping that whoever the new manager will be will have a chance to influence the decision, whatever that decision might be. I'm not sure he (or she... well, you never know) will get that chance and I have to admit that he looked some way off his brilliant best for much of last year, but if he goes then I hope we act quickly to secure a top-notch replacement. £7m is an amazing amount but then with £130m at stake, again, I hope the club balances the books against the best interests of a positive goal difference.
