He has be told by Oscar and Nathan that he wont get many free kicks awarded in his favour like he did when playing in Spain because he'll get no protection from the referees.

That is true.

Some consistency would be nice though, as a few refs do protect the forwards.

ill say this once but say it loud and it also refers to CMS and Barnes

A CLASS STRIKER DOES NOT JUST SCORE GOALS ffs

Yes, you are right and that has been proven time and time again. I would say that applies more to Barnes than CMS though. CMS is a out and out striker, whereas Barnes played out wide and slightly deeper s offered more for the team defensively.

Sorry but CMS makes runs off the ball that take defenders all over the place, the problem has been that we don't utilise the space he creates. He used to create space and Vicente was class at putting the ball into it but no one ever read it.

The Ref at Derby took the absolute piss when it came to Ulloa. He was fouled for 90 minutes - including being pulled back in the box when trying to latch onto a rebound - and didn't win a single free kick.

Again he picked up a yellow for reminding the ref about his imminent appointment at Specsavers.

Agreed, would like to see the 2 of them together though.

I seem to remember they played together for about 20 minutes in the second half at Wednesday last season and looked bloody dangerous.

I have had a few lagers now though, so that could be rubbish :)

Yes they did. However, it was only Ulloa's 2nd game for us and he tired after about 65 mins and was subbed off.

They also played together against Hull and weren't quite as dangerous. They then played together against Hudds. for the final 15 minutes (was 1-1 when CMS came on), during which time we scored 3 goals. Gus, in his wisdom, then decided to drop Ulloa for the away game at Bristol City the following Tuesday; CMS got injured on the stroke of half time, and we've not seem them together since.

For what it's worth: Ulloa and CMS have played together for a total of aprox 125 minutes, and we've scored 5 goals in that time. Not bad.

It was obvious that our ultra cautious and slow attacking style not only didn't suit CMS, but frustrated him. So many times you'd see him in access of space or making great runs off the last defender, but no-one saw the run our was able to produce the right pass.

Now I definitely want to see more of them.
But will OG play 2 strikers.
I have my doubts.

Leo looked fitter tonight ....got nothing from the ref.....his touch in terms of holding the ball up was very good. Missed a half chance at the end when the defender let the ball slip under his foot. Leo wasn't expecting it and the half chance went begging.

Thats one way of looking at it........ However, I don't agree, I think CMS runs down blind alleys the majority of the time. Any good defender will let him go, as basically his movement is nonsensical. In terms of Vicente and his play, the one that he worked best with was Barnes, as he drops off into the 'soft' area between penalty spot and 18 yard line......

We all see games differently -

Not healthy when a player has no competition for his place. really hoping we can pull off an unlikely deal for Wickham, I'll even settle for a loan now. Even assuming CMS and Hoskins come back all guns blazing it will be too late, they must both be at least a month off starting a game, we need another quality striker NOW.

as the season ends, what do we think?

lead the line for next season or cash in on our multi million pound asset

Not exactly his fault due to a horrible long term injury, but on form to date I don't see any clubs stumping up a 'multi million pound' offer for CMS until he's proved himself as a top class Championship striker.

Dead Right,Ulloa has taken a real battering this season due to playing up front on his own and not receiving a good service,he is no doubt glad the season is almost over and may well be open to offers.
