Can't say that I know a great deal about Mason but £2.5m does seem a lot of money for a Cardiff reserve, I'm half expecting us to end up signing a striker from abroad that very few of us have ever heard of.

I can't remember who, but someone mentioned Oscar being on the same flight to Barcelona yesterday. It's probably nothing, as he could be visiting family.

Out manoeuvred in the transfer market by Bournemouth. Who would have thought it? Hopefully, we'll sign a better quality striker than Grabban or Mason in the next two weeks but I'm not holding my breathe. I just hope that we're not short-sighted enough to regard Obika as Barnes' short-term replacement. I hope we see CMS soon but I would be surprised if he were to be fully fit before March/April.

Hopefully gone to talk to a few players but knowing our luck he's gone to visit family as you say.

I'm sure the club are fully focused on the need to sign a top quality striker before the end of the transfer window.

Whatever happens I trust the decision makers to make the right one in the best interests of the club, even if that means us being disappointed with transfer dealing sin the shirt term. Ultimately behaving responsibly will benefit us in the long run. Given how well we have done so far without splashing the cash I think we are in pretty decent shape. let the reckless ones spend themselves into oblivion, I really don't care.

Apart from Pompey, which I think was more down to the actions of the owners, I can't think of many clubs who have spent themselves into oblivion. There have been some small non league clubs who have come and gone but not many 'bigger' clubs as there have always been buyers who would step in.

I agree that not many "bigger" clubs have gone down the pan because of their spending. But needing a new owner to bail you out leaves a club in a very vulnerable position of not being able to be picky who buys it. You could left with nut jobs like that bloke who owns Cardiff who takes your identity or someone who take your assets.

I see Sky are now linking us with Lukas Jutkiewicz of Middlesbrough.

I quite like him. Not convinced he's a great fit with our style (Grabban was, I think) but a decent, strong forward.

He's from down South, too - Southampton lad.

I love Jutkiewicz...Would be VERY VERY happy with him.

From wiki- Jutkiewicz scored his first league goal in 1-0 win over Charlton a week later. Since then, he's failed to score in his last 18 games, missing chance after chance. Jutkiewicz not being able to hit the proverbial 'barn door' has left many fans frustrated with his woeful finishing.

Was a fan of him at Coventry though so maybe he's unsettled at Boro, but still, not exactly encouraging.
