"I am very proud to be the coach of this club." Oscar Garcia 5th October 2013

I hesitate to carry this on but all the comments I have found from Gus are that he is proud of what he has achieved at Brighton, not proud to be the manager here. There is a big difference imo.

Yes of course he had every reason to be proud of his players, he turned this club around completely and gave us the best football we have seen in my lifetime. Most seem to believe that the football was what it is all about and the touting and press circus didn't matter as long as he produced on the pitch, which he did. I wonder if Bloom was happy with Poyet gobbing off having given him the tools to do what he did and taking the risk in appointing him. Maybe it had nothing to do with the shit hitting the fan at the end but it can't have helped.

Oscar has yet to achieve anything with us and results and some of the performances have been poor, so although I warm to him saying he's proud to be manager here and thanking the fans for sticking by the team this could be seen as a sop. I don't see it that way, but I could of course be wrong and we could end up with a manager who loved us but couldn't produce on the pitch. I am happy to give him the benefit of the doubt at the moment and get the feeling that this is a job he wants rather than a fast track to a better job.

I accept I am out of step with most on here though.

Not at all Icy, Poyet started irritating me long before Tony got fed up and I hope to god Oscar succeeds not just because of a few words this week but because being likeable means a lot to me.

Facinating thread which is finally getting to the nitty gritty of why Poyet was wrong for this club.

Why should Mellotron twist anything? It's there for anyone to read without too much searching.

Strange, you normally post a link to prove your point. I have had a look and I can see some comments about teams with a better budget having more pressure on them. That is not a moan, please be good enough to point me to one where Oscar is actually having a moan because I don't believe there are any.

We wouldn't want it to become the truth in 6 months time, in that special way NSC functions.

'I read somewhere, ages ago OG laying into the tight budget, it might have been here'.
'Oh yeah he definitely had a moan, I can't quite place it'.
'Yep I remember it was at least 3 different moans, we were ALL up in arms about it'.
'Yeah I thought so, I knew there was a kerfuffle about it'.

And he also has moaned about the budget 3 times already.

Are you actually sure about that ?

I have to say it is not something I recollect so far

Thats because it hasnt happened. He has conducted himself impeccably so far and thankfully he's not a grinning goon desperate for a camera to perform in front of

But he did say he was very flattered.

And he also has moaned about the budget 3 times already.

But he's not Gus, so it's alright

I also look forward to seeing these three moans.

People only started calling it disrespectful when it suited their agendas.

That is simply not true. There were many, myself included, who always found it disrespectful and irritating. To suggest 'we' all had some sort of agenda is daft.

Agendas only apply if you found Gus' touting and budget moans offensive/disrespectful/self serving it seems. I'm still waiting for the "moan about the budget" links that have been attributed to Oscar btw

He's mentioned budgets on more than three occasions, in many interviews it seems. Its not moaning, just expectation setting. I would say the same for every one of Gus' comments on budgets, aside from the 'hit the ceiling' question

1.Asked which teams would be candidates for promotion, Albion’s head coach replied: “It’s clear that teams under most pressure are those who have the biggest budgets to spend on transfers or wages. hose teams have more pressure on them than the rest of us.”

2.He told seagulls.co.uk, “We must have the mentality that we can win any game in any stadium and we have to play in our usual way to do that. They have a bigger budget so the pressure is higher on them than it is on us but it will be a tough game for both sides.

3.He said: "They have high level players, one of the highest budgets of the league, and we have seven or eight players that normally play injured.

and so on

He needs to back up his claim that Oscar has moaned about the budget 3 times, presumable he knows where all the direct quotes are. I'm not searching for them.

If I can be bothered, I will find them. It was towards the end of the transfer window closing and many people commented on here about it, there was a number of threads re: "If GUS had said this..." etc.

They're not really moans, but then neither often were Gus's. But because he was Gus (just like because Ashley Barnes is Ashley Barnes) the same EXACT things get twisted in a negative way.

He did refer specifically that "this job is not easy to do with the budget we have". I don't think it's a moan, but then I'm not one of the 12 year old insecure possessive jealous girls who could not handle Gus referring to other clubs.

Yes - I remember the TOTALLY misquoted one ( by some ) where he was saying that he wasn't used to managing budgets, and how others had done it for him before.

Okay, so he hasn't moaned about our budget then, I couldn't care less about what Poyet has or has not said. He is history. However, lets not perpetuate lies about what our current manager has said.

Why not just accept you were wrong to suggest there had been moans from Oscar and leave it at that?

12 year old insecure possessive jealous girls? Really? You do realise how stupid you come across when you post things like that don't you? I thought you were better than that.
