The FFP smokescreen

Are football players insured to protect themselves and provide recompense should they have an injury that ends their career or is it to compensate a club should they get injured (or both for that matter)?

What I'm essentially getting at is, are an insurance company currently paying CMS's et al wages?

You're ignoring the point, they were injured at the start but it doesn't change the fact they're being paid. Hoskins' contact was an honourable decision, but at odds with not wasting money for no reason as per FFP. Hoskins is doing nothing but draining our resources with no chance of a return. It's money literally thrown down the drain from a budget perspective, but morally it was the right thing to do.
Yep, I realise that, and I'm pleased I support a club that isn't an ********.

It doesn't change the fact from the start of August we have walked the striker tightrope, and will be walking it till November.

We all knew we were on it, we all held our breath every time Ulloa fell to the ground.
Clearly we were in a situation that wasn't acceptable for more than a couple of weeks.
We now seem to have fallen off that tightrope and it's going to cost, one way or another, to get back up there.

I think an issue is that we have acquired a larger, 'stronger' squad and therefore wages will be higher. It makes sense that we need to play the likes of Bridcutt more now than when we come up from Division 1. Whilst the budget is the same, much more is required to go on existing wages and far less is available for transfer fees (if any).

I think the club get that a lot of people are fed up with the near-constant FFP doom and gloom. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear a little bit less about it from now on.

Dobbie wasn't good enough to get into our matchday squad. Why do you think he'd have made the difference in the play offs?

Regular companies normally have PPI plans which will pay a proportion of an employee's wages if they are unable to work due to injury or sickness. However, given the very high risk I would imagine that footballers would either be an excluded profession or that the premiums would be so expensive as to make a group policy for the players and staff a non starter.

I doubt that, as it's the plaster that's covering the perceived cracks.

And we lost out on the chance of increasing revenue from £27 million to £97 million by saving a few quid on the wages of Dobbie.

TB could have got a large chunk of Falmer paid for if we had spent a few quid on a replacement for CMS.

Even though we spent a combined £4.5m for 2 strikers when we only ever play one. It would have been a gamble and perhaps if it was my money I might have taken it. The point is it wasn't my money and TB wants us to be financially self-sufficient, if we truly love the club, this should be everyone's aim.

Swansea seems to be our model. It took them 5 years and 3 managers to get out of the Championship didn't it?

Where do i start with a moronic post like this?

Who said "We must be promoted this season or else" and all the other guff you spouted after that? No one sensible expects that. What people will expect is to be competitive in this league and if that means spending some money on the team then so be it. Brighton don't have a history of a big loyal fan base and if you think these fans will stick about then you are simply deluded.

First season at the Amex

1 million - Buckley
2.5 million CMS
500k Hoskins
Lua lua ?
250k Harley

These are off the top of my head.

2nd season season

Ulloa 2 miillion
Dobbie 300k
Crofts 300k

3rd season

Chicksen undisclosed.

Despite record gates and new sponsor deal. Record season ticket sales we have seen very little investment. People have every right to question the club ambitions. OKay knobend?

Caller: Mr Bloom, I am a season ticket holder who gives a good few hundred quid to the club each year.

Mr Bloom: Good to hear

Caller: Where is your ambition ?

Mr Bloom: Well I financed the new stadium at some risk and no profit

Caller: And

Mr Bloom: Invested money that I’ve needed to write off

Caller: And

Mr Bloom: Given free time and energy

Caller: And

Mr Bloom: Well that’s it

Caller: See, no ambition

Mr Bloom: Err….
