A little help please what is Sussex famous for as a theme for a Jamoree.

I'd put Eric Gill forward as the inventor of one of the most significant typefaces in the world (Gill Sans). However, I think he rather liked the company of younger people (along with animals it seems) so may not be right for a Scout jamboree!
... and he was born in Brighton and lived in Ditchling (East Sussex). Although he did spend three years at Chichester Technical and Art School.

Bognor Regis
... and whose dying words were "Bugger Bognor"

Well it's said by a local historian it was actually the King’s initial response to the idea of granting the 'Regis' suffix to the town of Bognor. ‘Bugger Bognor!’ he told his private secretary, Lord Stamfordham but eventually he granted the request. I guess either could be true. :lolol:

In my own strange world
What about Charles 2nd. escaping to France from Shoreham after the battle of Boscobel back in 1651.He escaped across West Sussex from Racton(Nr.Chichester) past Amberley,Arundel and Beeding finally departing from Shoreham.
Also Dragons are well known in folklore of West Sussex with tales of the fire-breathing beasts existing at the Knucker hole at Lyminster near Littlehampton,St.Leonards Forest and Faygate.
