Really, well how I have missed this in all my years, good pedanting :wrong:

Radio just said RHB was to be dropped for Machan yesterday but he got injured just before play

I did wonder why RHB was in for Machan, I assumed they were giving him one last chance before getting rid.

They said it was not announced but the press were surprised he was playing, so Sussex then announced Machan should have played but had a back spasm.

RHB is a talented cricketer, always felt my self a future England star. I have no idea what cost his contract is but to me he is perfect Sussex player, on the fringes, is just down to us to help sort his game and mentality out. Not drinking out with other players that get into trouble may be a good start.

There is a highly talented cricketer inside of him, I think he needs a psychologist as much as a batting coach.

So who is this Zaidi? He doesn't appear to have played for four years prior to smashing 192 for the seconds last week.

Radio just confirmed he has come over from Pakistan and been playing for Accrington in the Lancashire leagues for four years. He now has British citizenship, so wrote to all the county teams asking for a trial. We responded last week, trial got him straight into our side and he is now elated saying its a dream come true to be playing for us. Left arm orthodox spinner and bowling now.

Great stuff. Didn't take long to replace Monty did it!

I really liked RHB first time around and wanted him to do well, but (and i've only got a handfull of games and the scorecards to go on) he doesn't look right or even sometimes interested. We seem to have replaced one player (Goodwin) who lived off past glories and had the odd decent knock with one with far more bagger and far less past glories.

Weren't some of us watching Burnley playing Accrington at the cricket club before the Albion's game at Turf Moor last season. Anyone else remember this or am I dreaming it all?

I am afraid I was not there but wonder if Cric HQ has the scorecard to see if you saw the new signing before anyone else down here
