OZIL TO ARSENAL

"Arsenal have agreed a 50m euros (£42.4m*) deal with Real Madrid to sign Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil.

"The 24-year-old has agreed personal terms and will now undergo a medical.

"The medical will take place in Germany, where Ozil is on international duty."

* smashing the Arsenal transfer record by about £30m.

I though Ozil was going to be a loan deal? Could be a great move for Arsenal if Ozil can recapture the form of 2 or 3 years ago.

Why on earth are Arsenal signing a central midfielder, that is currently their strongest position. What more they are shelling out more than they got for Fabregas on a player whose not as good...seems to me like a poor piece of business and a mad rush by the board. They should have used the money to sign a defender or two or even a striker. £42.2m is a massive con and in my opinion a massive waste

From the beeb:

Bale is back out on the pitch, strip on, under severe keepy-uppy pressure. Three and down! Even I can do that many. Epic fail.

Deciding that keepy-uppys can only end badly, Bale does a bit of posing then heads off on a lap of the pitch. The odd bounce of a ball, a few thrown into the crowd. These are not the skills of an £85m man.

Ozil is an incredible player! Over shadowed at Madrid. He'll shine big time at Arsenal! What a signing for Wenger if he pulls it off!

Because you don't not buy a player because you already have some in that position.

If there is the option to buy a world class player then you take it. Cazorla, Ozil and Walcott in front of Ramsey and Wilshire is a brilliant 5. They may still pull out a DM. Who knows.

Ozil is WORLD CLASS. Genuine world class.

He's more a winger/no 10 than central midfielder. And he's class

Arsenal's attacking quartet of Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil is rather frightening. They just need defensive cover now.
