Sponsorship and income is the name of the game, even in the Premier League, look at Man U, Man C etc. Life paying your squad and their agents Premier level wages, fees and bonuses is ridiculously expensive and will rapidly eat into their Sky windfall and Zaha money. In practice they will be very largely dependent on other peoples money for survival especially as they won't exactly break even on gate income, corporate hospitality etc. and that's before they unleash any more money on Prem level transfer fees or big capital sums on upgrading Selhurst Park, none of which is cheap.

Life in the Premier League (or on parachute money for that matter) is an artificial existence. I'm sure we wouldn't have thought twice about accepting the Prem cash but at least under FFP we are more in control of our financial destiny. That's the one aspect of FFP that is morally good, albeit still too many questions as to how effectively it will be enforced, at this stage.

The CPFC 2010 consortium promised significant investment under their regime. Yes to their credit they steadied the ship and their gamble has paid off, now they do not have to live up to those personal financial promises, so must be very relieved they can use someone else's money.

We all know it's a decrepit stadium but I really hope they spend the dosh on the ground, re-develop properly and stay at Selhurst. There's nothing quite like going to a night game at a footie ground surrounded by houses. It just feels like this is how football should be. It looks iconic too. If only we could have built the Amex at Brighton station.....

Selhurst 'iconic'? I've been to Selhurst in all it's incarnations since the mudbanks were there and it's never struck me as a nice ground to visit bar the convenience of the station. There are much better examples of traditional grounds lower down the leagues There used to be a few decent pubs but they've long gone. Always better to have a beer somewhere else and arrive last-minute in my experience.
