What year as the coach was Kevin Barry from St Paul's school and the lads from HH Kevin Brown and Steve Davey

1977 -79 the coach was the Bishop Bells Pt teacher. We made the quater finals of nationals, where we got beaten by Liverpool.

I remember Ron Pavey PE, Wheatly-Crowe geography, I thinK Mrs Evans Math, Hippo Harman (aka Rubber Guts), Master Bates (with the usual jokes) that worked with remedials. Yes they were identified in the 70's. There was one horny english teacher called miss thompson I think. Anyone else with teachers names?

I am talking back in the 1966 to 1970 as Haywards Heath moved to West Sussex from East Sussex around 1971 andwas the Mr King the one who was involved with Brighton Bears as a director also Worthing and even early Brighton Cheveron formerly Brighton Giants who played in the old boys club in Edward St Brighton run by Dave Goss who ran a sports shop near the clock tower which became the Albion first shop and office in the Town?:xmas::hilton:

Sounds like it went downhill even further after the sixty's, coinciding with the removal of the ability of the staff to physical chastise the pupils.(inmates)
Was there 62-67. Have a reunion on the 27th with a number of former school mates. Its 50 years since we all met up on our first day at the Knoll. Think it all started going downhill when J K Turner(headmaster)jake or tinman left. Old masters remembered are Basil Waymark, George Harman, Griffin, Hippo Harvey, Ben Gooders,Crusty Kerr, Dad Davies, Mr Martin, Lovell. Chapple and deputy head Mr Smith. Also the cane. Looking back great days with great results in exams and sport.

My brother went to the Knoll, but I effeminated to the school of hard knocks that was Hove Grammar. It's why my brother could of done better whereas I could have.He spoke of Jack Liddell as a kind of algebraic hard case, but he was no match for the empowered bullies of the HCGS(B),and possibly not for the hard case tutors of HCGS(G).

I did attend the Knoll Infants, though - but I escaped when my dad was posted overseas.

Knoll Boy 1970-1975, great times growing up!!!. Some of the bundles we had were a laugh, and one fight i remember involved the whole bloody school and stopped the traffic on Old Shoreham Road. Great school for being good a Sport. Made me laugh, so spot on with the teacher descriptions. Mutton was bloody fearsome with the cane on the hands.

A pupil, you say. I understood there was at least 4. I believe it was in his garden shed, (so many puns). We always wondered who they were. 57-62 Prefect and Tuck shop Manager.

Hi all, just found this site and thread. I was at Knoll 74-78. Remember some of the teachers. P.E. Mr Hackett (rugby nut), Mr Harman, Miss Winters (English),
Mr Crowther (I think) P.E he was a red-haired bloke. Science teacher with Paddy the dog ( I thought he was Mr Tanner). Forgotten a lot of the other teachers.
I used to go on the school trips to Switzerland. Went one year when mate I was in a tent with Tim, got sick and had to be flown home. He had leukaemia, died soon after. Some of the kids I remember were, John Allen, Colin Ingledew, Steve Fenner, Andre Cornhill, Pete Banner, Phil Bleasdale. I live in South Australia now. Nice to remember the day at Knoll. I'm Dave Howling if anyone remembers me.

Does anyone remember Mr Fairweather? Think he taught Science/Chemistry. I know he moved on to Hove Park with Mr Pavey Mr Tanner and Mr Pidgeon because my OH says she remembers him and them. Never see his name mentioned though.
