Completely agree. The News Quiz was much better when Simon Hoggart presented it as he let the funny people speak instead of constantly interrupting.

French and Saunders at their peak produced some really funny and inventive sketches, especially their spoofs of films. I've seen Joan Rivers do Live At The Apollo a couple of times and thought she was a hoot. Very sharp. In terms of comediennes, I've seen Lucy Porter on 2-3 occasions and I'd say she is quite funny at times, but doesn't really have you rolling around the aisles for the whole of her show. That in part though is because she doesn't rattle off gag after gag, but builds up towards a particular gag/set piece within her show. Quite a few comediennes tend to get the most laughs from other women, because naturally, they identify with the joke.

I'm not sure how much, if at all, she writes, but her timing and delivery is spot on in everything I've seen her in.

I don't want to name drop or anything, but I met her when I was 12 at a Sam Mendes party. She was smoking a marijuana cigarette and being funny.
