In general I want us to have the best players available to us, whether they were born in Brighton, Barcelona, Beirut or Beijing is an irrelevance.

The fact remains though that, in general and in the current economic climate, Spanish players are more suited to our style, more technically skilled and a damn sight cheaper than an English equivalent.

If Leo Ulloa had exactly the same attributes and goal scoring record, but was English, would we have got him for £2.5 million? Not in a month of Sundays.

Of the 2 Spanish players still at Maccabi Tel Aviv I would have thought CARLOS GARCIA BADIAS is a perfect fit for us. 29 years old, 200+ La Liga matches mainly for Almeria including a couple of seasons playing alongside Leo Ulloa.

I see that Tel Aviv have just appointed Paolo Sousa as manager but their top scorer has just been sold to Reims. Gonzalo is 30 and sounds like a bit of a journeyman, but this Badias chap sounds perfect.

Appointing a Spanish manager makes a lot of sense. More and more Spaniards are coming over to play in English football, no doubt attracted by the pull factor of the 5% reduction in the top rate of tax and the push factors of tax increases in Spain as the country struggles with austerity.

We've seen with Vicente and Bruno we can afford the sort of quality from Spain we can't get in England. You'd hope Oscar would bring in those two or three quality players from Spain that we need, and his experience with Barca youth would help to bring on JFC, Dunk, March and Barker.

The fit is almost too good to be true, and Oscar is out of contract so no compo.

So why isn't every player at Swansea and Cardiff welsh? Oh and the last time I looked at the premiershite and the championship, most teams have an abundance of foreign "talent".

I agree with your point though and the showing of the u21s reveal a horrible lack of in depth talent

Second question, why would we want a mosly Spanish team? We are an English team playing in the English Championship.

If you fancy paying the price tags and wages for English players, let the club know.
