I'm not expecting more information to come from Tony Bloom. A reassuring confirmation that he is leading the Club through this mess would be enough. There comes a time when leadership needs to be shown. This is one of those moments.

I think we know he is leading the Club through this mess. He owns it and doesn't want to see it go down the pan (scuse the pun). But, he's not the leader, he's the owner/Chairman. He pays other people to do his leading for him. If he doesn't like them, out.

Part of the "uncertainty and concern" that has been expressed by some supporters in recent weeks has been about the role of Paul Barber. A clear statement by the Chairman to the effect that he has, as you say, 100% faith in Barber to do the right thing, might knock that uncertainty on the head.

On the say-so of NSC members? You think this forum has THAT much influence with the club? You will know if Tony Bloom no longer supports Paul Barber, because Barber will be looking for another job.

I genuinely wonder who some fans think they are. Demanding our owner make a statement justifying/making clear his confidence in one of his employees.

It's because the previous chairman had his inner circle of people on first name terms who took great pride in knowing everything. Some are struggling to adapt to the new, professional Brighton and Hove Albion and as such feel they still have the right or need to know everything. And because they are no longer getting that information and the cosy little club has gone, it leads to criticism of what has replaced it.

The sentence about the "processes" involving the three doesn't sound good - nor does the bit about it being "reasonable in the circumstances". If there was any way they were going to stay, I think the language in Barber's statement would be a little different.

For instance, he could have said something like 'The discussions with Gus Poyet are continuing but we can't update you at this time." What was actually said sounds very much like they are continuing an official investigation into whatever they did and trying to agree a deal in which Gus's team and the club part company.

Could be the opposite. We don't actually know why they were suspended, though some of us have our own ideas which it is not for us to speculate on. But they have to fully investigate the circumstances leading to the suspensions, and that takes time. They MAY decide the suspensions were unwarranted, having listened to all the evidence. But they have to assimilate and analyse all the evidence before a decision can be made.

I think the "uncertainty and concern" is due to noses being put out of joint for some supporters.

The massive support that Tony Bloom has had from Albion supporters over the years is based not only on the fact that he's got the funds to have got us to where we are, but on the equally important fact that he is a FAN. Now is his chance to speak as a fan. All I'm saying is that a statement from him would go down well.

I'm not arguing that Barber is handling the situation incorrectly.

He can't speak as a fan. He's not, technically speaking, one of us. Lessons were learnt when Ratner claimed the jewellery in his own shop was trash. It is inappropriate for owners to join the fray as a man of the people because it can affect their business. Legally and pragmatically, Tony Bloom has to stay silent.

I don't agree that Bloom needs to make clear his confidence in Paul Barber.

But I do think Barber could do himself a favour by not being so corporate about his updates etc. Fans don't need to hear all the bullshit about how far we have come etc and how we have increased attention from outside the area. We know that. Just cut the crap and tell us what we need to know.

Nowadays, the Albion is Big Business, big corporate business, with big global backers and sponsors. It's not the tin-pot team it used to be. You'll just have to get used to its new, corporate era, and the official-speak which comes with it.

oh, and this.

All I, as a fan, care about right now is our coaching staff, and to a lesser extent the pooer. Not our global brand.

Our global brand is what will bring in the big bucks and the big bucks is what brings in the best players.

The same people who gave up significant amounts of their time to put up the fight for you to even have a team to support now. So while professionalism and discretion are clearly the name of the game now, and nobody can say that's wrong, the fact that they had the chairman's ear and vice versa was the era we lived in.

So don't re-write history just to try and suit what actually sounds like petty jealousy that you tried, but couldn't get in, or make assumptions about why people are asking for information from the club.

Let's not forget where blindly following the management of OUR club with absolutely no medium or ability for recourse got us last time? Very different situation now granted, some of us fans with longer memories just happen to be more sceptical.

.....and he will have learned a valuable lesson in humility. We will all have learned lessons.
1) humility and Gus??.... not seen so far in his tenure, and I don't see it arriving anytime soon....... 2) What lessons do we as fans need to learn then?

I have been talking about a Membership Scheme since he got here. And now it is arriving. At Tottenham he introduced One Hotspur.

One Seagull? Lone Seagull? Flock of Seagulls?

Guess the name of scheme!

As for Bloom being a fan and therefore maybe he should be more to the fore at such a time as this..

To my mind this is just the time he doesn't need to be too visible. Though I'm not saying Tony Bloom would let his heart rule his head one way or the other surely it's better to have the cold clinical eye of a neutral to oversee situations like this.

Would love it to be "Seagulls crap on eagles", but suspect that's unlikely for, oh, just about every reason in the book. Seagulls all over, maybe?
