Did good things with Barca B, plays (or wants his team to play) good football, massive name, good contacts throughout. Not sure what went at Roma though

Can we really attract a bloke who was running things at Roma not so long ago? Even if it didn't go all that well.
It's an exciting idea, "for sure"

I think experience in this league is vital and would be top of any requirements the next man would need. Appointing people from abroad has so often to proved to be a massive gamble and not one I think Mr Bloom would even contemplate at this stage.

Right nationality! Don't know much about him so can't really comment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Enrique_Martínez_García

Played 157 times for Real Madrid, 207 times for Barcelona and 62 times for Spain (inc. 3 World Cups and 1 European Championship).

Management wise, he's managed the Barca B team and Roma. He left Barca B because he'd literally hit the ceiling - he got them into a play-off place for promotion to the Primera Division but because they are a B side for a Primera team they are ineligible for promotion, so there is nowhere more they can go. He then had a decent season at Roma but left voluntarily last Summer, halfway through a 2 year deal, after failing to get them into a European qualification place

If that ****** Mclaren got it - I would be on phone cancelling my season ticket within
20 seconds.

Cheers. I knew about his playing career, but nothing about his management. Looks a little like Gus. Has anything (even wild speculation) actually linked him with a move to England? I've seen his name crop up regularly on NSC for the past couple of years but without anything more than hope justifying it.

Haven't seen anything linking him with England other than his close links to Newcastle. In fact, he'd probably be up there with the favourites for that job if it comes up. Can't see him coming here, RDM is more likely.

He was one of the favourites for one of the premier league vacancies last year ( that Gus was linked to as well, inevitably ). Think it was Swansea, but may have been one of the others.

So you would plump for Curbishley, a manager who since he left West Ham 5 years ago, has only worked on Sky Sports........brilliant

Ahh. Seems an unlikely shout then. Hope Leicester don't try to nick whoever we line up.

Surely the whole point with these lists is they just reflect the amount of money fans are placing on each candidate. Unless there's a dramatic shift or an outsider suddenly appears as odds on favourite because of a huge bet, they mean absolutely nothing.

Wouldn't mind Chris Powell.
