If we are sure in the play offs do we rest players against wolves ?

Need to keep a winning run.

Mindset is important going into the playoffs.

No. Important to stay 4th and ensure home leg finale in semis if possible. Plus momentum is damn handy too.

Risk picking up injuries to key players in the Wolves match or playing the play-off home leg first?

I know what is much more important. Wolves are a physical side who will be absolutely desperate to avoid relegation at all costs. I usually bet on the away side in play-off matches because there's far less pressure on them.

I'd want us to stay match fit and pumped up in preparation for the giant games to follow. Finish on a high and that confidence should carry through. Just one game a week now, so no one should utterly crackered. A Vicente Amex farewell perhaps and a full Bruno runout would not be considered a reserve squad, but would allow one or two of our tenderfoots to remain ready for action but their hamstrings unstrained.

Its a tough choice really - you either rest the first team so they are fresh for the play-offs and risk losing momentum which could hurt our 2 play-off matches.

OR you play the first team and risk them getting injured, so you are possibly without key players.

Personally, id rest a couple of players, but certainly not a total squad rotation.

I'd rest Ulloa away at Leeds on Saturday, all we need to do there is grind out a draw and we're in the play-offs. Then I'd play him against Wolves (but probably only for an hour). I'd keep the rest of the side more or less the same, the time to blood kids is not against a side fighting for their lives on the last day of the season.

I'm sure the football league and the other teams at the bottom would have something to say if you didn't play your strongest team.

It depends on what's at stake. Poyet wants that fourth spot for the home advantage so if that's secured, we can rest players and that's feasible given our goal difference.

Then who you rest depends on who needs a rest. I would say the players who look tired or have knocks are:

PIG - Ankergren steps up as the PIG clearly has knocks
Bridge - Play Bruno RB, Calde LB
Orlandi - Give Lua Lua some game time and give Orlandi a break, he's rarely managed 90 mins all season but has been forced into it recently
Bridcutt - If suspension is still a threat
Buckley - I'd think about resting him purely because he is the man of glass. You could bring Crofts back and play Dave out there
Ulloa - If he needs it.

That would give you

--------------- Ankergren ------------------

Bruno----Upson-----Greer ------Calderon

---------------Hammond ------------------

Dave ----JFC/Dicker--- Crofts ---Lua Lua

----------------Barnes --------------------

Hardly a bad side.

I would agree with that side if we have confirmed 4th by beating Leeds. Resting players for 1 game will not break the momentum as they then will have 2 games in about 4 days before a further 2 week break for the final if successful.

Largely this. Very important to win against Wolves, whether just to maintain form or to guarantee 4th. My guess is that Gus will do similar to yesterday, rest a couple of key players who need it and make some early substitutions.

Would be harsh on Wolves relegation rivals if we played a weak side and didn't approach the game as normal.
