I know his petulance has cost him a lot of fans this season but I honestly believe a fit and fresh Barnes could mean we guarantee a playoff place at the business end of the season.

Hopefully he starts on Saturday, however important Ulloa is to our team he'll need a rest with some important games coming up.

He can **** off back to the 3rd division where he belongs, his price tag is indicative of how good he is

Prepare to be speechless then. Gus saying Ulloa needs a rest on Sat in today's Argus. He was completely knackered at Middlesbrough so not surprised.

If he's as exhausted as Poyet says he desperately needs a rest otherwise the likelyhood is he'll pick up an injury and if we have any chance in the playoffs we need someone of his quality fit and fresh. Start Barnes on Saturday and if needed bring Ulloa on in the second half.

I understand what your saying, and not for one moment am I going to sit here and suggest he is ANYWEHRE near as clinical as Ulloa, but I think his goal stats are very misleading.

The majority of games he plays are in midfield. His goal scoring for a midfielder is very good really.

There was a game this season at home (i'm really sruggling to remember against who) where he started up front and scored a typical strikers tap in within minutes. The finish was simple but the striker instinct to find the position was very good.

Basically, all I'm trying to say is having Barnes up front is really not that bad a situation. Especially a Barnes eager to prove a point after 7 games out.

fair point, but our play suits 451 at the moment, it suits the players we have and means we have quality all over the pitch. that means no place for Barnes for me, but off the bench im happy with.

I've read some crap on this board (and most of it from your keyboard, funnily enough) but there's so much wrong with this concept that there's not enough words in the English Language to fully explain.

I'd give Barnes at least an hour as striker on Saturday and then bring on Ulloa if we need him. If we can take all 3 points without using the Cyclone on Saturday that would be absolutely ideal

Right so we keep playing an exhausted lone striker then? Even if you're right about his level being the third division he's a better option than one of our youth or reserve strikers.

This was all covered on the other thread but I'll say it again: Having Barnes back is a major bonus. He did something stupid and paid the price. Now it's going to be fascinating to see how recent events have affected him as a player.

Gus has to take a view of Ulloa's fitness. Annoyances with Barnes have to be put aside and hope that he realises he has let the team down on a few occasions now.

If Ulloa is not sharp on Saturday and doesnt pass fitness test then he'll need resting, may not even make the bench. I for one will then be happy to see Barnes start, what other choice do we have? Barnes is more experienced and a bit stronger than Barker or Toby. As much as we don't want to rely on ash I know we're going to need him in some capacity, Ulloa can't play full 90s for all the remaining games, Gus will know this.

If Ulloa is exhausted from playing 2 games of football in 4 days he should see a doctor urgently

This is exactly right. We need to look after Leo for now, and if we can win without him on Saturday it would be ideal.

Jesus are you thick? He's gone from hardly playing prior to signing for us to playing every game, he's done a fantastic job but the man needs a rest!

5 full games in 18 days, with another game in 4 days time.

If he needs a rest to be at full fitness for any playoffs, let's look at doing this now.
