Hammond Bashers

I posted this on another thread yesterday but may I suggest that the Hammond bashers watch the highlights of Saturday's game. Hammond won the ball in midfield and 4 or 5 moves later Kazenga scored the equaliser. If Hammond did nothing else in the 94 minutes on Saturday, that move alone was worth it.

What is it they say about monkeys and typewriters? For me, moves often slow right down when Hammond gets the ball. The most annoying aspect of his game is that he seems to take a few turns and looks to figure out where everyone is and by then any advantage he had is lost.

It slows down everytime Vicente gets the ball. And Hammond does the defensive work and nitty gritty, on Saturday all we got from Vicente was one run, some poor passing and a general look of apathy

Hammond is a good player. But in a team with absolutely NO pace, he looks lost.

If Buckley had stayed on I think he'd have had a much better game.

I wouldn't start Hammond but on the other hand I personally don't like the loan players.......apart from bridge!, he's hot!

Warped view of the game, and your hatred of Hammond has led to some strange comparison:

Hammond may not have been great, but Lopez, Ulloa and Orlandi had stinkers.
To compare Hammond with Vicente is bizarre. Almost all the players on the pitch couldn't lace Vicente's boots. Hammond plays to his strengths in a totally different role.

My hatred of Hammond  if commenting on a player having a 'mare is hatred then you've got the wrong end of the stick, if you read back through my posts I've said that IMO Hammond was the 3rd worst player behind Spanish Dave and Orlandi.

If you read the post I quoted from BG you'll see why the comparison to Vicente is in that post.

:)

I'm not a Hammond basher, far from it. But that performance was one of the most ineffectual football performances I've seen from anyone ever. Its not about what he did with the ball when we had it, which was a few simple balls sideways and one slide-rule pass forward to Lopez which was slightly overhit - no as ineffective as al that was the main problem was when we didn't have the ball. I watched the highlights after the game in the concourse and all of Leicester's chances involved the ball being passed around Hammond. No challenge, no pressing, just ball-watching.

In the league this year. Undeniable.

Our results are better when Hammond plays.

(Disclaimer - numbers may be wrong, but I don't think they are)

Hammond is as slow as a tortoise and is so negative, everytime he recieves the ball he looks backwards even if there is a forward ball on. He brought nothing to the team on Saturday.

I don't know how he's at fault for their goal, Bridge loses the header and it bounces off Upson, the fact that Hammond's in there trying to make a tackle means he somehow gets all the stick for it!

Ok so he's not fast, he doesn't need to be fast. He is capable of picking out a very good pass, but there weren't really many options from where we were standing.

What did annoy me is why is he going forward instead of Bridcutt? At one point he was wide on the left wing, what on earth is he going to do there? Meanwhile you can see Bridcutt itching to go forward but then retreating back to his position after making a pass. If Hammond is playing then Bridcutt should have more freedom, not the other way around.

Hammond looked slow, orlandi off the pace and rarely involved and Spanish Dave had his worst game for a long time, although he did tweet he was recovering from vomitting and the shits so that probably why. We didnt move the ball fast enough and out passing was not as crisp as usual. I like hammond but it was not his best game - we all know he is slow - but he looked particularly lathargic on Saturday, i thought crofts would come on in the second half....

People aren't knocking him because of "The Withdean Incident" it's the fact that in his role he has two primary tasks ball winning and distribution. Neither of these he did on Saturday. On at least three occasions I saw him ball watching to the point that if it were your mate on a park pitch you'd ball him out and he also gave the ball away too much for someone who should be the foundation for ball retention and distribution.

No bitter old bloke here just someone who wants to see professionalism, passion and consistency.

Other than Bridcutt, Kuscszak and one or two others at most, who wasn't?

Worst I have seen Bridge, Orlandi, Lopez and Greer play for certain.

Err, Greer was comfortably MoM on Saturday. Won the aerial battle every single time with Schlupp, played plenty of good passes forward. Very good performance from Gordon.

Apart from the hideous miss he made which allowed them to cross and shoot, with only the woodwork to save us. Yeah, real MoM. I presume you didn't see Bridcutt on the pitch then?

Right. So Greer is quality all game, makes one mistake and that's it, he's had a shit game.

Kaz meanwhile has a ****ing WOEFUL game but scores, therefore MoM. Dear me.

I thought Bridcutt had an alright game, certainly gave it away more than Greer.

Hammond had a bad game, it doesnt make him a bad player. I think he has been pretty decent for us this season and would much rather see him on the pitch than Dicker.

Crofts has been a bit of a let down for me this season, which has ment Hammonds got more game time than I was first expecting him to get, but when he has played, he has rarely let us down, he may not shine but he gives a good account of himself.

Biggest thing that has let him down, has been missing a couple of decent chances. other than that Hammonds alright and does a good job.

Have to disagree, Schlupp had him chasing shadows on more than once occasion and I thought Greer's distribution was poor.
