Something for the Muslim bashers. Did you know that it is reported that all six Muslim Labour MPs voted for equal marriage. No conclusion drawn, but an observation.

In the Metro today it listed a load of potential honeymoon destinations where male homosexuality is banned and can result in a prison sentence, mainly around the West Indies.

Seemed acceptable though for ladies

Women can be gay too....

So which one donates the sperm then? I doubtThere has ever been a political movement more disengenuios than the gay rights movement, they used to argue that bi-sexuals didn't exist. As that would neatly avoid the issue of choice.

Ive had my say.......

I know it was a free vote, however generally speaking I think that political ambition will always trump a politician’s conscience (if was any other way then they wouldn’t be politicians).............that’s not to say many on BOTH sides of the argument did not have deeply held convictions, I fully accept these were also at play. That said, this aspect should be considered though the paradigm that the motive behind this vote in the first place was just crude political advancement by an ambitious politician. No more no less.

It is complex, hence my point that you were over simplifying the opponents as prejudiced bigots.................maybe you just take after your old man? It is also something of an irony that “superiority” comes in different forms and whilst racial superiority maybe a dead pigeon, there are plenty on this board (and in society at large) who consider that they represent a neo ethical equivalent of “Das Reich” which must without any mercy lay waste to the degenerate untermenschen who have the temerity to speak out against the direction of today’s brave new world..................your comments about opponents being prejudiced bigots indicate you are well equipped for this new era of total war.

Seig heil..............

You are comparing him with Nazis (despite the fact that he has explained and apologised for the comment you quote) for dismissing one side of the argument as bigotry. Hoever you do exactly the same for the yes voters by dismissing them as politiking Politicians. I am not sure I really see much difference.

Isn't it funny that the same people who are so vociferously against gay marriage are also the posters who are constantly posting negative drivel about our players and manager...

Some of the postings here are disgraceful, I do think he Church should have had a fairer consultation on this but free votes are totally acceptable in this kind of debate.

Personally as we have agreed by law to gay have civil partnerships then gay marriage is acceptable as well.

Marriage as whole has totally changed over the last few years helped by the monarchy no less so is not what is was it is now more a choice.

I understand your frustration. No religion = much better world.

Being a person of faith, i would say perhaps "proper religion = much better world". That is religion which accepts people for what they are, is nothingphobic and non-judgemental and basically just supports people who need support. The frustration is that it will probably never happen.

It has to be a YES. Equal rights for all people regardless of colour, creed or sexual orientation. It is quite shameful it has taken this long.

I would suggest that that is just displaying humanity....no need for religion to play a part. You're right about it being unlikely to happen, however.

The same part of the bible that condemns two men getting frisky also has some interesting advice on how a women should cleanse herself after her "time of the month"....

And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness.

Which is of course in the honourable tradition of the Dissenter rather than of the Anglican establishment.

Strewth, even I don't have turtles in my collection of grumble flicks. I did see a film featuring EELS once in Amsrerdam, but wasn't sure whether the young lady in question had the tomato boat docked at the time.

Call me an old fashioned romantic if you must, but the film did nothing for me, didn't even get a semi.

Bloody hell (no pun intended) I've had it all wrong for a very long time then! Lucky they give the turtle option - have you ever tried to catch a pigeon in town?

Agreed, but "proper" religion could actually help it to happen, and you don't have to have faith to be good... as has been said here and elsewhere many times by me and many others

Well that rings true because I am a dissenter - a Methodist. I am often pleasantly surprised by how well-informed some people on here are. I suppose I shouldn't actually be surprised.

What's "proper" for one is likely to be "improper" for another, hence the necessity to leave it out completely and just concentrate on being as 'good' and humane as possible.
