Trains to St Pancras leave from London Bridge Platform 6 on the hour, quarter hour, half hour and quarter to (or at least if they're running to time they do). Their ultimate destination is Bedford (origination being Brighton) and they will likely be dark purpley First Capital Connect branded (although sometimes they use old Southern stock they haven't got round to repainting).
Should the train the OP has caught from Charlton to LB have the ultimate destination Charing Cross, it will arrive on Platform 6 itself, so there is no need to change platforms at all. The OP just needs to get off the train, stand where he is and wait for one going to Bedford (rather than Charing Cross) to pull up alongside.
However should the train the OP has caught have the ultimate destination of Cannon Street or London Bridge itself (there are a couple of fast-to-LB ones they put on special like after games) it is 97.6% likely it will arrive on Platform 2, in which case the OP should use the footbridge between platforms to perambulate to Platform 6, which he or she will find located between Platform 5 and Platform 8. There is no Platform 7.
Personally I find negotiating the tube station at LB far more of a mission than the overground.
