After failed efforts at scoring by brightons forwards :(

And Buckley being very good at beating defenders and then taking his chances and scoring!

Should he be given a game as a forward? :bigwave:

Yes.

I've said this myself before and seen it mooted on here by others. Definitely worth a go IMO.

If it's not broken don't fix it.
WB could be hopeless at waiting in the area for a nice pass, when he thrives on surging forward from the wing and slotting the goals in.
He's our Gareth Bale, and let it stay that way.

Noone should have been a striker if his attitude to the goal was clinical, but he strangely couldn't do the last vital bit in the area

Same as, I've said he would do a good job as a striker but was shot down in flames
Thierry Henry started life as a winger until wenger turned him into the best striker in the world I can see Buckley going down the same road

I personally think he COULD, but the reason he scores so many goals is he peals off the wing which creates space for him as no one is man marking him.

I'm definitely in the 'not broke' camp.

But he should/could/is/will be used more as a goal attacking winger, than a by-line crosser.

Which in the beautiful world of the Albion is becoming the job of the full backs!

Buckley is fine where he is, but failed efforts? CMS is on 9 goals and Dobbie has scored 2 in 2, not his fault that he's not getting game time atm. Hoskins is just getting into his stride and played well when he came on yesterday.

he could do a job as centre forward as lets face it, he is a very VERY good player. I think however he would be best suited out wide as his main way of beating players is knocking it past them and running onto it. Out wide you have a lot more space to do this, where as in the middle, you wouldn't really have any space at all to do that

An inside forward as my dad likes to put it. Definitely should be a striker, he has all the credentials to be one; he can finish, run with the ball and I'm sure with his height he must be reasonably good in the air. In my opinion he's the answer to our striker problem.

No.
Super Bucko is scoring from his current role.
CMS and Barnes are absolutely fine (and contribute more to games than just scoring) but do not receive enough service from our defensive biased midfield. WHEN the Flairmaester is fit and plays the midfield turns into attack mode and we batter teams.
Orlandi will never score in a first team fixture.
We will never score from a corner.

That said I shall be in my seat on Saturday with a coffee to help wash down the above words that I shall be eating with a slice of humble pie as all of the above come to fruition as we demolish Bolton on the way to a fifteen match unbeaten run to see in the New Year.

Always the optimist.

Jesus, anyone would think we're on some kind of goal drought. Three against Wolves, two against Huddersfield, two against Leeds...bloody hell, we're desperate for goals, aren't we? Do people actually think other teams convert every chance they create then?

Sure, we could score a few more, but then again last season we weren't even creating the chances for long periods of the season, so at least we appear to have moved forward to some degree. We're a work in progress, and we're getting there slowly, I can live with that. Move too fast, and you end up like Southampton: out of your depth in the Premier League and getting embarrassed week after week (unless you're playing QPR).

Other teams are nervous about facing Buckley as it is, as he has pace and runs at their full backs. Why would we change that? He's scoring goals from the wing, so what's the problem?

I know at least one Huddersfield blog that picked him out before yesterday's game as the player they were worried about facing.

We scored from a corner yesterday, or have I misread your post?

We're definitely making progress. This time last season we were 12th and with 4 points less. Our disciplinary record is sorted out, we're scoring goals and looking a good solid Championship side. We were able to beat a side in the playoffs with key players injured and reserves playing.

That really is progress ... well put. All we need is a bit of consistencey and it's job done!!
