Hasn't looked great for a few years and we have plenty of decent wide midfield players. Would be ok in this division but not what we need at all right now.

Good grief man!

You must be joking, he's been ace for Lille.

:lolol:What on EARTH are you TALKING about!?

He is JOE COLE. We are BRIGHTON.

'Not what we need right now' Give me strength.

Personally I would prefer to See Lua Lua and Buckley come though as exciting youngsters than a washed up Joe Cole denying them the opportunity.

I'm all for taking a gamble on older players who've struggled where we really need those positions filled but will start to get very uncomfortable if we are blowing major cash where we don't. Joe Cole is a bit meh to me I'm afraid.

Can't see it happening, Rogers has made it clear everyone gets a fresh start at Liverpool this season. And with the system Liverpool will be playing I can see Cole playing a big role. And even if he wasn't there would a host of Premiership clubs come in before we got a look in. Doesn't mean that we haven't enquired though.

Absolutely this. 0% chance.

Quite. There is no way Gus will ever signing a 6ft 5in player. Look at our style - why would we want some huge oaf?

ok forgive me for a little exaggeration in trying to make my point. there has been quite a lot of comment about how 'small' our midfield was last year in comparison to a lot of teams and i have got the definite impression we were looking for a bigger unit in midfield than we currently have.

Christ can you imagine the calibre of player we'd be rumoured to be signing should we ever reach the Premier league?

He's one of the worst fantasy football purchases possible. I'm quite happy enough to have Vicente as our all-out attacking flairite, and to look to get the muscle in midfield that's needed to really lock things up defensively. For me, we're much better off concentrating on those who can master this division and not all old pro's last chance saloons. This isn't the Premier League and those who might have long ago shone in the top flight won't automatically be able to take apart our league. It's 46 games of battle and i want that war won with the right mix of flair and uncrackable sturdiness.

Hang on here. There is a world of difference in us enquiring (which is fine), to that of the player agreeing and Liverpool paying 90% or whatever of his wages. Joe Cole is still good enough for the Premiership. This has no legs.

Right here, right now
Who would have thought we would be able to sign Wayne Bridge?

Joe Cole is not so far fetched as we could have previously thought. Its certainly not a definite no, possibly an unlikely maybe though.
