Why do so many people have to get so worked up about someone starting threads like this, give it a chance!
Because there are a lot of idiots that talk a lot of shit. But this OP isn't one of them.

Sure you can wait until it's on Seagulls.co.uk, but they don't post much until the contract is signed do they? So if you want a heads up before a signing, this is a good way to get it.

Sitch has a good track record for correctly breaking news of player transfers.

that's what I was just thinking

Would be delighted if this were true. Still I can wait until deals are done before getting excited. Fingers crossed.

I really do hope we sign Trotter, he's an excellent powerful midfielder with a good eye for goal.

Mattock would be a solid signing at Left back, just what we need, although his loyalty with his previous clubs in the past always take a U turn.

With all due respect, and I really hope you're right, but anyone could come on here and post what you have. We know Gus wants Mattock and we know we have a fair shout of getting him. You just seem to be suggesting he's in talks, which isn't great news. Unless there's more that you're not letting on?

Apparently he was coming to us, I sincerely hope he doesn't as he wouldn't improve on Schneiderlin or Cork. Would be a decent signing for you mind. You don't really have a midfielder that provides drive at the moment. Could be the difference between you making the play offs or not this season. That a decent forward and a keeper.

When I clicked on this link from Twitter, I hoped it would be Sitch breaking the news. Very reliable last year. Great news!

Agreed, although a Millwall colleague of mine reckons he didn't replicate that performance again all season. Guess the Amex is the draw that Trotter needs!

I can report exactly the same comment from a Millwall colleague in my office as well. In fact when I told him we were after Trotter he wasn't all that bothered!

I remember when Sitch first came on NSC it was to post a rumour and he intimated that he worked at the club although the position seemed to be a bit of a moveable feast. I think I ended up deciding he was something in Commercial or maybe even the shop. His inside tips have tended to be a bit hit and miss as I recall, certainly not entirely reliable - I think he has been well off target as often as not. That said he seems to be nearer the action than most and perfectly genuine in passing on what he has heard and I seem to recall Bozza backing him up which is good enough for me when it comes to rumours. Indeed that would seal it for me on this occassion because I am sure Mattock is right but I am far from convinced about Trotter coming to us. Still, not a poster to be knocked for the sake of it so let's wait and see where it goes.

FWIW a friend of mine in football in the Midlands told me on Saturday that he thought Mattock was going to come to us (not the biggest punt let's be honest).

At least this is a "proper" rumour - it's going to be a long summer

I would be extremely happy with just Mattock to be true TBH but ecstatic if Trotter was also the case.

I can't see why Southampton would want him though, they must be looking for a better caliber now with the attendances and decent backing they've got must be able to afford some very decent players.

Oh the Mail. He is 23 not 22, and out of contract so god knows how he is rated at 1.5mil. Papers are just full of shit.
He's not out of contract - he's signed until 2014, and Millwall will want a sizeable fee for him. Don't think we've got much chance with Trotter, anyway.

Mattock's a perfectly reasonable shout, but as mentioned - of course we're going to at least open talks with him.
