It's a fair point about him getting injured, especially if we have no one else in his place. With regards to changing the style of play and I'll probably get flamed for this but here goes...
We play effective football, we won league one and done very well in our debut season in the championship. Effective but boring football in my opinion, a bit like Benitez Liverpool or Moruinio's Chelsea. So yes I would change the formation and try and play a more attack minded game considering the creative talent at our disposal and that would include bringing in players to help CMS smash them in. I appreciate everyone has different opinions, this is just mine.
This. Play the Express game - guess what dire warning of future disaster the rag will have on its front page before going to the newsstand - will it be: Rain all summer, House Prices to slump, Pensions going down the pan. None of the "news" in the Express ever happens, you'd get more current affairs off the back of a cornflake packet. I don't even understand who buys it, it doesn't seem to fit into an particular readership pigeonhole - maybe it's attractive to people who like being scared of non-existant future events or who want to believe the worst conspiracy story ever told ( and don't get me wrong - I'd love to think that Diana was bumped off by Phil just for being a bit annoying ).

Neil Ashton is a well respected football journalist, with plenty of contacts in football, so dont dismiss him just because he's a Palace fan. If the Villa job becomes available and they approached him, I'm sure he'll be interested.
He works for The Express and is "respected". Doubt it.

I have to say I struggle to understand how you can describe the football we played as being effective. We finished 10th. That means there were 9 more 'effective' teams in that division than us. In terms of the point of football, ie to score more goals than your opposition, we scored 52 goals (marginally over 1 goal per game) but conceded 52. We play a possession game which may become more effective if we get better players than we have at the moment. Now, for the calibre of player we came up with, it may well be argued that it was the most effective way for them to play in order to stay in the division and compete with teams already established in the championship but I don't believe that is why you used the term 'effective'.

I would call that effective wouldn't you? The season just gone we flirted with the playoffs right up until the end when we tailed off with what was basically a league one squad. That's quite an achievement is it not? It is however, in my opinion only, a boring type of football. That is ALL I was trying to say.

They should open up the Inter-toto cup to any professional or semi-professional side that want's to enter.
With games played over the Summer, it would be a great way to eradicate the boredom.
It is effective if our final position exceeded our playing budget relative to other clubs in the division.
To be honest, if the only way you can eradicate the boredom of the summer is by watching the Albion play against FC Smegma of Belgium, given that the Olympics are in London this year, and there is a feast of other sport on too, and a beautiful city in which you live, then you need your bumps felt.
