Won't that put people off.

could we not just have a turn up and pay facility for non BHA games. - or arrange to have tickets that could be bought on the day available at the ground

As the years go on and we are firmly established at the Amex , do you think that resriction will be lifted ?

Nope. It comes with the planning permission, and therefore, one presumes, would be part of the stadium's operating licence, issued by the local authority.

one of the restrictions placed upon us was that we couldn't have pay on the gate

this isn't a problem for league games involving us, but i agree it is a bit annoying for games like this....the crowd is going to be MINUSCULE

This is all based on the theory that tickets would be sold with a pre-paid Travel Voucher that would discourage people from driving to the ground, rather than use "sustainable transport".

The logic collapsed last season, when it was possible to buy a match ticket without paying for "free" transport to the game. Next season's plans are to restore the compulsory "transport levy" and the theory will once again make some sort of sense.

The reality is, of course, that there is no point in selling tickets at the gate, when there are none available (which was the case for many/most games last season). But this doesn't stack up for a match like the Sussex Senior Cup Final.

With a few thousand extra seats available next season, though, it's still going to be the case that there won't be any available car parking near the ground - and it therefore makes sense to discourage on-the-day ticket sales, because to do so sends out the message that "drive up and go in" is one of the options available. It won't be.

Yes of course it will. As soon as we plateaux and drop back down to crowds of between 15 - 20k regularly then the club will push for the condition to be removed.

Don't really see why it's there in the first place you can turn up and any other ground in the country on a match day (assuming it's not sold out) and buy a ticket. Why do we have to be different?

The transport argument is bollocks before someone comes out with that.

It's not complete bollocks. But, in practice, it wasn't applied very coherently, once the Club initially decided to sell the available parking and travel on a "whole season only" basis. The back-tracking as far as P&R travel vouchers looked a bit shambolic, because that never succeeded in dealing with the fact that a large number of fans were able to travel without ever actually purchasing a voucher.

mainly because the planning process for us was SLIGHTLY different to most other cases....it's fairly natural that we had to make a few compromises that others simply wouldn't just to get the thing in the first place

one would imagine that it has something to do with LDC's concerns that falmer village would be inundated with swarms of HOOLIGANS on a fortnightly basis (something which, quite obviously, hasn't happened)......possibly when the residents realise that the vast majority of football fans simply aren't like that, we could have a chance with an appeal

I can understand having the restrictions in place for Albion games plus its part of the planning permission etc. But for a game like the Senior Cup Final?

Could there not be a 'loophole' created to get around this restriction for low profile games like this? For example, buy a matchday programme (for whatever price advance tickets were) & get 'free' admission to the game? For those who have an advance ticket, they get a 'discount' off their matchday programme if they wish to buy one by producing their ticket?

There ya go, sorted! I'm going to open up a business as 'Falmer Solutions'. :)

Fair enough but it was a ridiculous compromise in the first place as it makes no business sense what-so-ever. It's almost like the council wanted the football club to fail. I'm sure it'll be removed in time though.

Bit disappointed that it is all-ticket.
Was planning on going if cricket was cancelled, but as that won't be decided until the morning I can't get a ticket!

if I wake up tomorrow morning and decide I want to go to the match, is it possible to buy a ticket at the Amex ticket office, or at the town centre office, before the match kicks off?

I've just checked on the official website and it says that tickets are available up until 3pm tomorrow if booked on the online ticketing system. Book online and collect your ticket at the Stadium ticket office by the looks of it.

You can pay on the day, just not on the gate. As said above, you can go to the Amex, go to the ticket counter and buy a ticket, then go into the ground. A lot of the newer grounds that have bar code readers are exactly the same.

Can get cheaper tickets at Sussex FA HQ Lancing

Went up to Amex to get tickets for tomorrow first of all bus was held up because of crash and then their ticketing system had gone down just before I arrived.

Subsequently found that you can get cheaper tickets tomorrow in Lancing from 9:00 AM tomorrow - family deal for £25 (two adults and 3 kids) and concessions for students etc - these aren't available at the Amex.
