I'm one of those 2000

I'm surpised it's only 2000 to be honest. When I joined it back in August, I was told it was already getting near 1000, and I'd have thought that as we've been doing so well it would be closer to 4000. Maybe I'm being too optimistic though

Isn't this a copy and paste of the Mid Sussex Seagulls debrief from Richard Hebbard's visit the other night?

That is where all the info came from. Got sent it this morning and a lot of it was news to me.

I genuinely think we are very lucky at Brighton with how happy club employees are to meet fans and discuss issues.

Top work from Mr Bloom and his boys.

This was news to me:

Falmer Station is likely to be made longer and the Albion are in talks about putting in better signalling between Falmer and Lewes to make it possible for more trains to work the route.

How has that been worked out?? I haven't seen any renewal letters yet?

I would guess 42 people have told the club they will not be renewing so the club don't have to waste time chasing them for DD paperwork etc.

Another interesting part of the report

There are plans afoot to increase the length of Falmer station to enable a quicker dispersal of fans after a game. Thereafter, they are looking at putting in better signalling between Falmer and Lewes to enable more trains to go in that direction.

Contrary to some of the wilder reports on North Stand Chat, damage in the away end has been relatively little. 11 seats suffered minor damage at the Palace game and a toilet bowl was damaged by Millwall fans, but overall away fans have reacted very positively to being treated like normal people - guest beers etc.

Just 42 people have contacted the club to say they will not be renewing next season.

This is currently, not necessarily the end result.
I'm grateful to have seen this news piece and still sit here dumbstruck that people criticise it, like everything else on NSC... truly unbelievable.

I imagine more people may not renew, but certainly encouraging demand so far.

Also found the bit about the rail improvements quite interesting.

The 42 is likely to be people who know already a season ticket won't be worth their while- because they're moving away, changing jobs etc.

Unless you really had a deep grievance with the club, there's no reason to have rung them up to inform them you won't be renewing this early in proceedings.

I would guess at 1000-1500 will not renew, maybe even 2000 ( unless we get promoted), but that will easily get picked up by the waiting list and others joining the happy throng on the back of the publicity that has been generated this season.

Debrief of Mid-Sussex Seagulls meeting with Richard Hebbard. See, I can cut and paste too. Maybe I should be a journalist.

Richard gave us a rundown on the proposed new training ground at Lancing, details of the proposed next stage developments of the Amex, followed by a lively and honest question and answer session. Some of the main points that arose were as follows :-

1. The facilities at the training ground are being designed in Premiership style. The intention is to bring kids in at age 11 and progress them right through to the first team. Facilities looked outstanding. 300 construction jobs are being created to build the place and there will be 100 full time equivalent jobs created once up and running. It is hoped that planning will be approved in April.

2. Planning applications for the Amex development will also be considered in April. The corners at either side of the South Stand will be filled, along with a new players' lounge and hospitality suites above the Stand. There will be a second tier above the East Stand hospitality suites and this will add around 3,200 seats there. Further down the line, the gaps either end of the North Stand will be filled and the new capacity will be 30,750. If permission is granted in April, it is anticipated that the extra capacity in the East and South will be ready for the start of the new season.

3. Richard confirmed that, despite the planned increase, there will definitely be space for our coach in the coach park next season and the club are delighted by the numbers of supporters travelling by coach...and would encourage even greater numbers.

4. The away fans are going to occupy a section of the East stand, together with the extra seats between the East and South as well as a portion of the South Stand. This should make it easier to get them away to the station. There are, however, no plans to lock in away fans after the game as trouble has been minimal. Richard also added that Liverpool were so impressed by the way their fans were treated and handled during the League Cup tie, they have now adopted our crowd control techniques for away fans.

5. There is a waiting list for season tickets numbering 2,000 ( many of whom may want more than one ticket ) and 600 are on the 1901 waiting list. The suggestion is that the extra capacity will be gobbled up quickly; interesting that only 42 people have so far indicated that they will be giving up their tickets. The club envisages a headache moving fans who may wish to change seats at the end of the season, but they will do their best. Priority will be given to the 200 season ticket holders in the East Stand who will have to move following the resiting of away fans.

6.There are plans afoot to increase the length of Falmer station to enable a quicker dispersal of fans after a game. Thereafter, they are looking at putting in better signalling between Falmer and Lewes to enable more trains to go in that direction.

8. Despite wondering whether they should sell Harveys Beer at the start of the season, they sold 12,000 pints of the stuff at the Cardiff game ! They have also been hugely surprised at the vast numbers who are regularly arriving at the ground over 1 hour before kick off to enjoy the catering facilities.

9. There are 1,200 part time staff employed on a match day compared to 63 at the Withdean.

I think there will be more than 2,000 new STHs - not everyone will already be on the waiting list. When the new seats are put in, I expect loads will be snapped up. Can't really think why anyone wouldn't want to renew, given the entertainment we've had this season, apart from the kind of personal circumstances mentioned above.

I didn't think you had to re-new your season ticket, but it just rolled over, like a gym membership and you only had to
contact the club if you were cancelling? Is that wrong?
