The Director’s Guild of America snubs Spielberg’s “War Horse” in its award nominations which were announced last night.

It seems to be a marmite film for critics, some love it, some do not at all. It is nominated for a Golden Globe. The poor reviews from some critics has had a devastating impact on the US box office, at number 5 for 2 weeks and on $ 56m, it could be his worst performing film in the US since AI.

I haven't even seen or commented on War Horse yet have I so what exactly is your point ?. My best film Schindler's List is about 16th on the list of takings. Still why not have a f***ing pop it seems to be the way. Be my guest.

I pointed out this fact earlier but got slated for it and slagged off. We all know what is going on but I am just accepting it and we may as well declare " Hook " to be the winner now.

I simply suspect what has happened is what always happens in these situations - 2 front-runners emerged so people have been voting tactically. Don't like Schindler's List - fine, vote for Hook. Think Hook is a load of rubbish, then vote for SL. A vote for anything else looked wasted long ago - so people are probably trying to ensure the film they don't like doesn't win, rather than voting for something they adore.

Just my two-penneth.

Thanks Bozza. Its not a major issue. I mean in the scheme of things who really gives a f*** ? I just find the degeneration of the thread and the abuse I have had to take is totally unwarranted. It started off well , it was really interesting and inciteful and and then turned into a farce, well, I bit but then I would wouldn't I ? I guess people know that and like to bait and push it. I am who I am. People can see this and like to stick the knife in. I must have brought it on myself I suppose but think I am an ok sort of bloke so don't really get the blind hatred some people have towards me.

Sorry US i didnt mean any offence. What i am saying is a) what is the problem with hook and b) on many movie threads you seem to suggest that a film is good if it has massive box office takings. We all know thats not always the case!

So, 5 or 6 people have come on this thread to say they like Hook and you still discount it? Considering the other polls on this board that's a pretty high ratio of comments to votes. That's about as many who have said Saving Private Ryan or Jaws yet you don't discount them. The only thing irregular here is your warped view that because you and a few others don't like the film then I must be wrong. Why bother putting Hook up if you didn't want people to vote for it?
