Above the Amex we should be proudly flying the flag of Sussex, but what does it look like? Martlets on blue, red, quartered background?

We are 'the' team of Sussex so should get he flag up!

It would be better to have a flag that has been around longer than three years.

The problem (or maybe it isn't a problem) is that there has been no meaningful single political entity called "Sussex" for well over a thousand years. There are TWO flags - the flag of East Sussex and the flag of West Sussex.

Most of the recent clamour for things like Sussex Day and a Sussex flag have been public relations stunts originating with West Sussex County Council. As a proud resident of East Sussex, I say they should shut up.

Yorkshire is divided into three, for political purposes. When you ask a Yorkshireman where he comes from he will tell you Yorkshire! Not west Yorkshire or one of the others.
They even have a Flag, for the whole of Yorkshire.

Agree. Ive always regarded myself as Sussex man. Not west Sussex, even though everyone knows west is best and east is least...

The east lot are a bit envious I say ;)

As Brighton and hove is a unitary authority, we're not strictly part of Sussex.

Until they redraw the boundaries AGAIN. Nah, for these heritage issues you've got to go with what king Alfred etc mapped, can't let modern politicians decide where a kingdom lies.
