Nobody minds people coming here to work legally, pay their taxes and follow our rules. Unfortunately we have thousands if not hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in this country. We don't know how many of these are working illegally. They have no status. But when the authorities catch up with them, the thing that annoys most people is when they use immigration lawyers to fight deportation.

At the end of the day the rules are clear. If you are not from Europe you simply cannot turn up and live here. And if you come here illegally as far as I concerned you have lost any rights whatsoever to appeal against deportation. There is nothing wrong with is.
nail on head .

You are becoming REALLY tedious, I am the only one doing ANY thinking in this discussion.

ANYONE is entitled to emergency care. Which is what she got. Don't worry if you were pregnant with quins and already here you would get treatment.

I don't.

Read things properly, if you are capable, which, given your perfomance so far, I seriously doubt.

To be fair, you don't seem to be capable of understanding much. READ the legislation, I linked to it to make it easy for you.

Then I'm sure that, should you ever bother to read the legislation, which I even linked to for you, you'll be relieved to realise that they don't.

Same old, same old. TRY READING THE LINK!!!!!!!!

As I already said READ THE LINK, you'll find that what you're demanding is ALREADY IN PLACE. It really isn't f***ing difficult. Read up on the facts, rather than the bullshit printed iin the Mail and Sun.

And your'e living in Cyprus, I'm guessing probably for one of two reasons, either you are a squaddie, which given your left wing views I doubt. My money's on the possibility its for tax avoidance. May I kindly ask what did you contribute to the British tax system over the last tax year. With these answers, then and only then should you have a single ounce of right to rant like you have. Looks like the sun in Cyprus is starting to affect you !! As for your link, read it, don't agree with it and for your views to be considered then come on home, pay your taxes and we may even take you more seriously. Until then, Goodnight !

Christ almighty, y'know I'd previously thought of you as having different views to me but at least with your heart in the right place and you stand by your convictions, which I respect - but with posts like that you're coming across as more and more a twat every time. What the flying f*** is your obsession with knowing what people have paid in tax? Is it just a cock-waving contest over who earns more money? Maybe the poster moved out there for family reasons or for work? Either way it's NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, and your post is based entirely on an assumption that the poster is 'dodging' tax, for which you have f*** ALL evidence. And by the by, when were you appointed the governor of who's entitled to a f***ing opinion?

P
It does'nt just come down to her having children in this country free, she will now put in to live here, saying that her children were born here and she has a right to a family life ,then send for her husband who will claim that he has family here, then he will send for his parents (if still alive) and ad infinitum.

thats life and if it can be done then people will and i dont blame them one jot. what i do hate is people glibly condoning it as its direct effects on them are negligible. they are not trying to register with doctors, get access to housing and schooling etc in areas under pressure.

itr sounds f***ing horrible but i really really really f***ing wish sometimes brighton was under similar pressure plenty of people would change their tune completely.

or simply continue their i'm alright jack mentality. thats the irony, the people who claim most to be tolerant and understanding are often giving a big thatcherite f*** you i am alright and brilliantly get to dress it up as being a good guy. a sickening win double.

Way to conform to stereotype. It's amazing how right wingers consider anyone who bases their opinions on facts and thought out arguments rather than fairy tales is a "lefty".

My money's on the possibility its for tax avoidance.

Then you lose on both counts. Never mind.

May I kindly ask what did you contribute to the British tax system over the last tax year.

Over the last year? Nothing, unless you count airpirt tax and VAT. Why should I contribute any more? I pay ttax in the country I live in and where I use the services.

Over the last 20 odd years however, I've never claimed a penny in benefit and paid full tax, council tax and NI.

With these answers, then and only then should you have a single ounce of right to rant like you have.

Firstly, I haven't ranted, I've used reasoned arguments and ppointed out the facts, like, for example, the current legislation, which I agree with. I fail to see how agreeing with the legislation can be considered a "rant".

As for your link, read it, don't agree with it and for your views to be considered then come on home, pay your taxes and we may even take you more seriously. Until then, Goodnight !

Which link? The Guardian one? Or the government one which shows what the current legislation actually is?

I admit that I haven't read every word of your posts, as to me it did sound a little ranting at times ..... but

I am still struggling to decipher your views on this thread ...

You have told us that as a British national you have no entitlement to the NHS after living 5 years in Cyprus although as you have pointed out you contributed for many years, however a Nigerian woman seemingly does have.

I am not sure how you feel about this ...... which part of the initial query do you agree with and not agree with ?

If we have to fall out, at least ensure we have good reason !!

While this war is going on between a couple of posters, did anyone consider that she might have deliberately set out to have her kids for nothing on the NHS,I await the next news story when she claims her right to stay here!

Fork Me, you've summed it up completely. You pay airport tax you say, well that's going to fill the massive gap of the medical care so far do you think, I dont ? Then house (5 babies will require at least a 4 bedroom house in West London - that's where she wants to be). Add benefits/lawyers fee's then the till keeps ringing away. You've ripped right through my post but in essence answered the question I was asking.

And then you come up with this answer to my question regarding what YOU contribute and lo and behold you fell for it. I will quote your response

"Over the last year? Nothing, unless you count airpirt tax and VAT. Why should I contribute any more? I pay ttax in the country I live in and where I use the services"

Mmmmmmmmmm !! That's the point entirely, the lady has these services in her home nation, in which I'm sure she has been paying tax. Exactly the same opinion you offered.

I'm not being harsh and above all else there a 5 children to consider here but her actions are completely fraudulent and she now knows she will be staying here with family to come as well, probably on benefits but that's something I can't prove at this stage but based on previous precedents. Perhaps the Department for Works & Pensions may keep an eye on this case

No, I haven't said that at all. Nowhere have I said that. The regulations aren't difficult. Hell, I even linked to them. If you really want to know what the regs say, try actually reading them.

I said, IN THIS INSTANCE she was entitled to treatment. She was, she was here and an emergency occured. However, it seems she came here deliberately to give birth, that isn't legal, so in that aspect I made a mistake.

The regulations on who can have what for free are fairly tight. However, no-one is refused emergency treatement for life threatening situations.

Entitlement is based on residence not nationality. If you are legally resident here you are entitled to free NHS treatment. I see nothing wrong with that.

My main point is that the regs are abiut right, health tourism isn't a major problem for that reason, and yes, it pisses me off when a hige fuss is made about that because it acts as a smokescreen effectively hiding the very REAL NHS finding problems that are there. Everyone is up in arms because one person bucked the system to the tune of £200,000 but nobody makes any fuss at all about the millions that are just wasted in the NHS on complete nonsense. It's totally the wrong way of looking at things, and yes it plays in the hands of racists. Much easier to blame Johnny Foreigner for our problems rather than actually address the REAL issues.

Err, no, but then I never made that claim.

LOL, "fell for"? Are you REALLY so thick that you consider that a clever trap or something? I fell for nothing I gave you a straight answer to a straight question.

Mmmmmmmmmm !! That's the point entirely, the lady has these services in her home nation, in which I'm sure she has been paying tax. Exactly the same opinion you offered.
LOL, you think that's the point? Firstly, the lady in questions doesn't have these services in her home country. Not in any meraningful sense anyway. Secondly, my point isn't that we should provide free health care for the world, it's that the amount it happens is completely insignificant compared to the REAL wastes of money in the NHS.

This just isn't the large scale problem The Sun is making it out to be. The actual regulations are pretty tight, yes a couple slip through the net but they're few and far between.

By the way folks, your taxes also go on the following according to the Argus.........

Council bosses have been accused of bowing to compensation culture after a schoolboy won damages from them.

The boy was paid £7,000 by Brighton and Hove City Council last year after he plunged into a disused air raid shelter.

He was hurt after he climbed over a school fence to retrieve a lost ball and stood on the roof of the shelter which gave way under him.

Another pupil won a £3,100 payout after he was hurt falling after a teacher let rip a silent but deadly in a history class.

The council confirmed the payouts but would not name the victims or schools or give further details of the claims.

They were among 347 playground compensation payouts made to school pupils by local authorities across the UK last year.

One boy received a £5,750 payout after another pupil splashed his hand with mancustard at a school in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Another boy received £5,700 after he injured himself breaking into a school while a third was awarded £3,000 after scratching himself on a female 64 year old teacher's bush during a practical biology class .

It would seem to be a very effective smokescreen. We are being ripped off, we are having our taxes wasted but it sure as hell isn't by a Nigerian Lady trying to do the best for her children. Drop in the Ocean!

I really do not understand this logic, in somehow smugly highlighted those within our own society that also cause harm to our services, as if this somehow validates non British Nationals to do the same.

You seem quite at ease to rightly condemn those people yet wholly reluctant to do the same for those from other countries.

Its a inverted racism that I suppose you will never quite grasp.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Health tourism should come to a close, but this individual case (and lady) should not be vilified. It would be nice if all countries had acceptable means of healthcare, but that is wishful thinking.

In some ways, I am quite proud of our country for helping her, when her country would, more often than not, fail her. Nigeria is an oil rich country, but we know where the money goes...
