Away at Stoke

Should be a good game and I really hope a good Albion following. I suspect we will be given the whole south stand, so should get just shy of a 5000 allocation, which will be more than enough. Normally the south stand is split with the usual away allocation 3000.

Soke seem to fill their ground for most Premier league games. Their 3rd round cup game V Cardif only had 17500, but I suspect will will take over 2k more than Cardif and being the 5th round, and hopefully with good pricing, it could be a near sell out.

I must say i find some comments on here to be a bit OTT, for me personally I am looking forward to this one as I have always found in the past Stoke fans to be a very friendly bunch of guys who apreciate their club and what it is doing, okay so they play the ball long but it works for them, until Gus came to Brighton we played the same way but without the same sort of success.
For me this cup run has shown how we have improved but we are nowhere near premiership class and to say some of the things that have been said on here is disrespectful to a club that has got to the promised land and established themselves there. Look at our cup run so far, two draws against non league teams that did their homework on us, a mid to lower table championship side that we played off the park, then a top 10 in form championship side that we played well against, but, premiership teams, that's a different matter, let's just hope we go to Stoke and the magic of the cup can become a great leveller for us, more importantly, Gus learns more about our players and we give a good account of ourselves and play good football, but please just remember where we currently are and where Stoke is and pay them the respect they have earned, then hopefully, one day, we will be in their position to see this draw as a chance to progress. The league is much more important to us at this stage.

I really hate that we are turning into Arsenal fans berating teams that supposedly don't play beautiful football. And this is all before we've actually won anything.

Stoke might not be the best draw, but they are the loudest home fans I've ever heard, in a decent stadium. Should be a belter of a game.

2) Chelsea or Man United would attract thousands of twats who would like a "day out". Those sort of days are absolutely awful in my opinion. I hated Spurs, I hated West Ham and I hated Villa. The sort of people who will travel to Stoke are the sort of Albion fans I want to spend time with.

Actually I can relate somewhat to that.

Unlike at Watford where some people turn up at 3.05 and expect their seat to be free. I mean f*** sake.

I should say my anti football comment was tongue in cheek. Stoke are an extremely effective unit who maximise their threat, which is why the likes of Arsenal hate going there. Won't do us any harm to be up against something different, the central defenders struggled against Fletcher when Bournemouth came down and Stoke will be infinitely more troublesome so it'll tell us whether they learnt anything.

First thing I thought.

Me too...... as we play a lot of teams who play a simialr style might actually work for us... especially if Tuncay has gone / doesn't play.

I think it's a great draw...

EPL side away, in a powder keg atmopshere, guaranteed full house so extra revenue for the club and a good away day for all our supporters.

Interesting thread. Am listening to TalkSport, waiting for non-news of Bennett's transfer and am surprised by the over-reaction on here, from all sides. Sadly, my experience of Stoke fans over the years has not been good, my other half and I were attacked while we were in the carpark last time we were there (and Stoke had won), and so the idea of a trip there on a Friday night (as Gus seems to want, because of the Plymouth game) doesn't thrill me. But, despite all that, I'm gonna go. It'll be a good chance to see how we get on against Premier League opposition.

Stoke fans were initially giving it the big one when they found out they'd got us; now they're all upset because Albion fans aren't wetting themselves with excitement about the draw. Get over it. Just as we'll get over the slight disappointment of not getting an easy or a top-four tie. As long as we have a good game, don't get any injuries and it doesn't affect our performance against Plymouth in the league, I'm happy.

Bring it on

Still Somewhere in Sussex!
No Tuncay, and no Gudjohnsen!! I think we just might fancy our chances a bit now, as we still have Mr. Bennett, Mr. Murray, Mr. Calderon, et al :smokin:

Portsmouth got to the final last year & we beat them.
Watford semi finalists 06/07 beat them
Stoke are a big strong team but are not unbeatable.
What you see is what you get .
