So, would the police tell us to move the game if it was in the league?

NO!

pointless poll !!

They may consider that it is easier to police if they change the venue and the date and play it on a Sunday as Southampton are at home also so their resouces will be stretched. They may just ask for a change of date. It doesnt affect me either way as I shall get tickets wherever but I can appreciate the possibility of changing the venue.

Um we have playe pompey at withdean before and I can't recall battles in the home end.

What a stupid thread

I dont think he's talking about the Portsmouth fans being a threat, i think its more to do with the segregation. Because unless this is labelled a CAT C game like FCUM was (for which there's no reason to do so) we have to give portsmouth 15% of the tickets (1300 ish at a rough guess), while our current away end holds only c.850.

If they are put in the Family and east stands, I'm fully expecting they'll be kept in after the game, as obviously this exits at the same place as the south stand.

I Know that, but do you not think the advantages of a switch would benefit the club in a number of ways?.......................jeeeeeeeeeez

Which bit of pointless and the club do not have control of this request do you not get? I think the club would benefit from having £90 million pound to spend in January but......

Incidentally, another point on this topic. We have just built (or nearly built) a 23k stadium. We want to fill it - especially at the start of next season. Now, if we were to be promoted (or perhaps even in League 1), there is a good chance that the teams visiting will easily take up their 2k allocation and might look to go in the home end, especially if they are London based, or Pompey/Saints. Seeing as a lot of the people that we are banking on filling the 14,000 extra seats or whatever at Falmer WON'T have purchased tickets from the club before to start off with, are we likely to end up with empty seats due to this database rule?

Why did we play at Gillingham and not Fratton Park who told us we couldnt play there? Cup replays were always on the Tuesday or Wednesday after the first game, who decided that they couldnt be played until the following week? Who said that FCUM couldnt have their 15% of tickets as per the FA rules and they are a small non league team not our nearest local rivals?

Thankyou BensGrandad...a voice of reason, far from being embarrasing like some have said on here i think it could benefit all. I know we have hosted big matches before but dont you think it would be best for the club to have increased revenue, easier to segregate fans ect ect. It may be the action of a non-league club but we do play in a non-league type stadium and we have had history with Pompey fans at The Goldstone which was a venue that could accomodate a big match against them.

Sod it, why haven't we switched every big home game for the last ten years? Leeds, Southampton, Derby, Forest, the list goes on. Just think of all that extra revenue if we'd simply played both league games at Elland Road etc. :dunce:

On a slightly less sarcastic note, we have played Portsmouth at Withdean before and there were no problems whatsoever. The only different measure I recall was they were checking people at the Sportsman to make sure they had a match ticket.
