Very difficult given the general demeanour of the crowd to expect anyone to totally "keep their cool" no matter how much training they have. It seems in all the circumstances to be reasonable that he has escaped a guilty verdict but not unreasonable that he will probably be disciplined and his continuing career as a police officer is quite possibly going to be limited.
I do find it difficult to empathise with people who abuse the police and either practice or mimic violence whilst feigning surprise when they are the victims of a violent response. It's an ugly aspect of a "free" society that their behaviour in flagrantly taunting and threatening those responsible for upholding the law is deemed acceptable.
Wouldn't mess with anyone called Sgt Delroy Smellie. He must've been teased mercilessly at school.
I still don't understand why if someone was threatening you with a weapon in each hand you'd hit them in the thigh with your truncheon? He's either lying or incredibly badly trained
Both are winners.
He's still got a 'clean' record.
She's got £26,000!
What experience have you had of public order training ? you've obviously had some to be commenting on this officer's training, or lack of it so to speak.I still don't understand why if someone was threatening you with a weapon in each hand you'd hit them in the thigh with your truncheon? Think about it, he believes the soap dodger has a weapon, like a knife, he is hardly likely to try and grab at it is he? Of course not, because he has been trained that if you try to grab a knife you might lop off some fingers. So he attempts to incapacitate her by hitting her legs so that she goes down, as per his training, and the training of every police force in the world, once someone is on the floor you can control them far more easily than if they are standing.
I'd think the thigh would be one of the least effective places to hit someone unless you just wanted to hurt them in a fairly concealed manner?
Well I would have assumed that disarming the person would have been the first thing which he'd have used the truncheon to hit the weapon out of her hand. Or hit on the lower half of the leg if he wanted to incapitate someone?

It's all a load of bullshit.
She was acting like a c**t.
He decided to twat her a few times because he thought he could easily get away with it, but didn't rekon on someone filming it.
Copper uses the policemans get out of jail free card - he thought she had a weapon.
Protester tries to get compo by bleating about the incident.
What a waste of everyones time.
