....Joe Gatting is good enough.

Hasn't scored for 7 games for Bognor, and they are sending him back to Brighton.

the loan was only for a month. i think they want him back.

the team is awful, 2 points in 8 games.

can't really blame him.

I havent seen him play for Bognor so do not know what service he got. The many times I have seen him play for reserves he gets loads of goals, he is young and gets him self in areas to score.

Unless he ever gets a run in the team hard to know.

Well according to some knob I spoke to at Withdean on Saturday, he's better than Murray, so i'm guessing some people do still believe it...

I feel really sorry for JG - the thing is a striker needs confidence and if everybody is constanbtly saying youre shite then it cant be good.

The times ive seen him in reserves, hes often the best palyer on pitch, very strong on ball and can hold it up. got a good volley on him too. i think we should give him a chance.

he cant be crap to bang in so many goals fro reserves and youth can he?

no he's not. doesn't help being hounded by his own fans though.

he is a natural finisher and will score goals if given the right service. he isn't the quickest but he does get in good positions and if people don't write him off and he's given a proper chance and run in the first team, he may well turn out to be a good player.

Big step-up from youth and reserve to first team. How many players have we seen in the past that can't do it?

He's rubbish. I'm sorry, I wish he wasn't, but he is.
Its one thing banging them in against the crocks, kids and trialists you're up against in the ressies - quite another to do it at League level. And he's not even managed it at non-league either, following miserable spells at Woking and now Bognor.

He's a poor mans McPhee.

I'm not sure why he gets so much grief from the fans. Ok, he hasn't looked great, but he hasn't had much of a chance, and I haven't seen enough of him to believe he's as shit as many make out. I reserve my anger for those that are in the first eleven every week and not doing the business rather than young kids who struggle to make the bench.

But as Easy just said, successive managers have sent him out on loan to try and get his confidence going, and had miserable spells at both clubs.

The Woking fans really didn't like him at all. I'm not giving the kid grief, I just asked whether he really did have what it takes to make it League One level, and the evidence very much points to no.

He's had 15 starts for the Albion, plus 29 as sub, and scored a total of 5 goals (4 league, 1 cup)
He had 14 starts for Woking, plus 1 as sub, and scored 2 goals.

I wouldn't mind if I could see him at least contributing something else to our play. But he's slow, doesn't have a great touch, isn't very powerful in the air, and never really even looks "up for it" when he's playing.

If Gatting is the answer, I don't think I want to know the question.

Somebody actually said that?? The only person Gatting is better than is my nan! I cannot believe people can even possibly slightly believe he has any sort of potential in football. So no, my answer is no I don't think he's good enough.

Why is it a ridiculous thing to say?

Has he proven himself in League One? No.

Has even proven himself in Non-League? No.

In my opinion, he picked the wrong sport.

because people with a clue obviously think he does have potential. and he has shown that he has potential, at least, by being prolific in reserves and youth team. that may not be the same as playing league football, but banging them in at that level obviously shows potential. you don't need to prove yourself to have potential to succeed.

maybe he did, but i doubt you really have a clue about his ability in either sport. you have just criticised him because he has not developed as everyone hoped he would. maybe he will come good, maybe not. but to say he has no potential is a little bit silly really.
