Therefore, this underlines my view that the constant whinging about withdean, the team, the club, the board, the potential for the new stadium etc, actually have a greater impact than the reality. In effect, it is threads like this where any attempt to put reasonable counter arguments is met with hysteria and abuse that actually are more likely to cause falling crowds than anything that is ACTUALLY happening.

HAHAHAHAHA!! :lolol::lolol::lolol::lolol:

I've heard some shit in my time but that tops the biscuit!

Adrian are you seriously saying that the poor attendances are down to people questioning the current regime??

WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT!

As Piers said yesterday perhaps if more people had questioned the board back in the 90's maybe we wouldn't be in this spot.

Will we still get free travel to the ground on public transport with these smart cards?

Would I be able to show my card to a bus driver on a 25? As Id imagine that Brighton & Hove buses wouldn’t have any swipe card technology on there buses by then to debit the travel.
Obviously the driver could punch into there machine every fan that gets on but without any stubs there could always be the element of doubt that the bus company could charge the club more.

I use weekly savers at the moment so it wouldn’t really bother me how it would work with regards to buses but I just wondered what the clubs policy on this is.

Phil,

you are NOT questioning the current regime. You are misquoting and creating so called 'facts' in order to substantiate your own personal view of one director which has been formed by some very specific issues you have with him about your treatement in the past.

I was actually referring to whingeing as a whole but once again you decide to selectively quote to suit your own purposes. As for a meaningful debate, you start with the abuse as well. Just try and learn to have a debate without coming out with emotively foul comments for once?

The irony of course is that much of the discovery of the goings on at the club came from FANS anyway. I know of at least one person ( a fan) who pointed out to Gulls Eye some stuff about David Bellotti but he was ignored and told that this person was bitter because Bellotti wouldn't deal with free loaders like him.

The sale of the Goldstone was discovered by a fan, the removal of the no profits clause was discovered by a fan. This current board have more than enough scrutinising of their accounts on a annual basis by any number of accountants on here but guess what? They dont see anything that points to mismanagement of the club. Those people are scrutinising and questioning the club. They may not do it as soap box haranguing but it doesn't mean it isn't happening. You really have NO idea how scrutiny works in the real world.

What makes you say that?

Brighton & Hove Buses are part of the Go Ahead Group who are one of the major partners in the London Oyster card system. And, like all bus companies, they are gearing up for the introduction of smart card technology that will be used to run the national travel concession scheme for senior citizens and disabled people which is being introduced in three weeks time.

The technical specifications for all smart card ticketing systems have been drawn up to ensure compatibility between all systems.

Would think it would work the same as the present over 60 travel pass. You show the driver your pass/card and he/she issues a ticket saying "free travel" or something similiar.

As the Weekly/Monthly/Yearly saver tickets are quite popular and easy to manage that I didn’t think there would be any real need for B&H buses to update there ticket systems just yet for 2010.

So will that type of system be in place for 2010 for the stadium?

At a business do 3 months ago, Roger French said they were planning to have Oyster in place within 12 months. Especially as barclays have now launched a combined credit card with wave facility and Oyster included

To be honest I was thinking more on the lines of when the bus company come to the club saying that X amount of people have travel to games this month that there wouldn’t be any hard proof like ticket stubs to show the club the numbers traveled.
If an inspector did come on the bus, which is unlikely then I would just be able to show them my swipe card again, but just slightly curious on what the club intend to do.
Not that I would think that Roger French would try and swindle extra money from the club by adding more figures to the data recorded from the drivers!

Oh I didn't know that. So it would be in place by the time the stadium is built.

So would the scratch off vouchers work in conjunction with the oyster card or would they eventually faze them out?

Right, ok so you are saying whingers as a whole are causing the poor attendances?

Hmmmm.......to protect your innocent ears WHAT A CROCK OF POOH POOH!

The club is mid table in the third division of English football, playing dreadful football at an Athletic track with mechano stands. We're losing money hand over fist and now the fans are voting with there feet. HOW ON EARTH as a fan of this club can you be happy with that? I'm sure as hell not!

If you can't moan at games, on the phone in or on here when are people supposed to air their grievances? Or are we just supposed to be smacked up to the eyeballs the whole time and assume everything is wonderful?

I'm not denying that fact but I also recall being told to shut up and support the team by certain senior fan figures when a few of us started to question that things weren't quite right.

Phil/Arthur - can you list for us the ways you have scrutinised the club in the last 6 years?
I'm not referring to typing questions on Nsc to other fans. How have you (personally) looked into what the club is doing?

Three points - I do fundamentally believe that whingeing affects peoples perception of the club and therefore is a factor in the falling attendances. If you are told that a pub has poor food, watered down beer and crap management then you are unlikely to attend, even if it was your regular a few years ago.

I also dont think we are playing dreadful football at the moment either. On balance there have been a fair number of exciting. competitive games this season. Out of interest, your perception of that will be based on one cup tie and the comments of others I assume?

Out of interest on your last point, who were these senior fan figures and in what context did they make these comments e.g. what did you say and was it before or after the sale was announced?

Are you actually a FAN of this club, though?

I think not. We're pushing for the play-offs, playing football that belies our meagre financial situation. And we're attempting to go somewhere. You, it would appear, would rather this club sank into oblivion.

Out of the football I've seen play this season I've seen about 20 minutes of good football, the rest has been crap! To use your analogy if you went to a pub and got severed up shite you wouldn't keep going back on the of chance you were just unlucky would you?

I won't name names as you don't appear to like that, but I'm sure you can guess who they were you and your then wife used to share a coach with them every week.

As for your last question we were questioning what was going on at the club in a "what the flipping heck (edited for your ears) is going on" type chant. We were told in no uncertain terms to shut up and support the team. As for when it was pre or post sale announcement that I can't recall it was yonks ago and I've had a drink since then.

I also remember being abused by fellow Albion fans for being on the pitch during the York 'RIOT'.

I'm quite happy at the moment, and I'm really looking forward to this afternoons tough game. Obviously you aren't happy but do you have to keep banging on about it all the bloody time. I think we are all aware of your opinion, some even share it, many do not, but it's constant repetition is just plain tedious.

No not a fan, I just happen to know several people on this board all from different walks of life by chance.

Also the fact that I've seen this football club play at all bar about 10 grounds in this country spending a fortune not to mention the 20 or so years I was a season ticket holder definitely suggest I am in no way or another a fan!

I hope you have a very nice time this afternoon and it doesn't rain and it's a cracking game and Brighton win and the chips and curry sauce are great and and and and you win the withdean wager!

YAY for Soccerball!

so was that 20 mins over 1 game, ten games or 20?

I dont mind naming names if it is relevent to the point you're making rather than a baseless dig whichg you seem to enjoy making. You know exactly the context I mean but dont let that stop trying to point score. As for your comments that may have provoked the comment without the context it does kind of defeat your point. to take two extremes, if it was when we were winning 1-0 with two mins to go and during our promotion season in 2001 then that would be significantly different to us losing 2-0 during the early days following the sale announcement.

Let's face it, the very people looking into the club finances pre the sale being announced or indeed during the winding up hearings, were not you.
