That's not my point. There are indeed threads on Jazz, Ambient, to name just two genres.

My point is the arrogance of using words like 'best' and 'greatest' and then only apply them to Rock & Pop.

Either Rock & Pop needs stating, or 'best' and 'greatest' needs dropping for 'favourite'. Simple. Or else the cultural arrogance continues.
The words Best and Greatest were used before the nominations came in.

I think you are adding too much meaning to them. No-one is assuming that this is a definitive competition. The 'favourite' part is implied as ever in these kind of threads, it is just a bit of fun.

Sorry but I had to laugh at 'cultural arrogance', a little hysterical, no?
