Well, they certainly won’t be in the Europa League then.

In reference to that section of UEFA rules Palace may appear to comply.

5.01.a is not applicable as this refers to ownership and/or control of another club by Palace, not it's directors or shareholders.

5.01.c refers to voting rights not share holdings - these fall below the 30% mark

That leaves 5.01.b and the question of whether Textor is involved both at Palace and Lyon in the "management, administration and/or sporting performance" of both clubs. Whether or not he is I don't know.

Thanks for clearing that up then! :lolol:

Thanks.

That doesn't actually say we don't qualify. It says that a team that can't go into one competition (Europa League) could be moved into a lower competition. So Palace could go into the Conference (if they weren't also breaking those rules).

But Newcastle qualified for the Conference. Imagine they didn't finish high up in the league - they would still go into the conference, they wouldn't be kicked out. And they're not taking their place, which, as per the rules, is offered to the next highest placed team. That would be us, regardless whether or not Palace were also given a place there.

So, Brighton Palace Conference final it is.

Oh I thought you were taking the mickey out of all the posters who have asked the same questions on here every few hours since the thread began.

I honestly thought it wasn't even a possibility for a club to be put into a competition on the basis that rules meant they couldn't be in a higher comp. I see from the rules linked that that is possible (and had been mentioned earlier in the thread, I missed it). Obviously Palace could also fail to get into the Conference because of more multi-club ownership shenanigans (covered many times here), but that aside, it seems they could be demoted to the Conference, and Forest replace them - which can basically give your country and extra place in Europe. That's f***ed up.

It seems to me the NSC echo chamber effect has moved the hive mind from convinced Palace will be fine to indignation that UEFA should even consider it.

What started as just a gentle teasing of our resident Palace bunnies could leave a lot of us fuming when the dust settles.

It would be hilarious if it happened but I really wouldn't recommend letting yourselves believe it will.

Huh? It would just mean Forest and Palace swap competitions no extra places for English teams.

So that this is clear cut, let's say Wolves won the League Cup.

Top 5 get Champions league, Villa get Europa, Palace get Europa, Wolves get Conference. Forest get nothing.

Palace would be kicked out of the Europa (owning multiple clubs), and Forest (highest team in the league not in Europa or above) would get their place. Palace could be given a Conference place. Obviously Wolves wouldn't lose their Conference League place (they won the League Cup and qualified), so that means England get an extra place.

Yes, listening to that at the moment. Just watched SSN's expert (can't remember his name) explaining the rules - but he's actually passionately supporting Palarse - it would be outrageous if they were denied the place they've earned and deserved, and all that! Watch from about 8.00 onwards -

Some independent expert analysis, that!
Genuine question to somebody who knows more than I do - why is it only Palace who are facing possible expulsion. How come Lyon's place isn't in jeopardy?

Kaveh Solhekol is absolutely appalling. Completely biased and misinformed on this story with pro Palace hyperbole. Yeah it's not great for their fans but the rules have been broken. What does he mean 'common sense'.

Can we all collectively complain about the weasel of a reporter to someone/something or better still, get Marinakis at Forest to make 'representations' to Sky Sports.

I suspect that would be where 'exceptionally' and 'may still be admitted' would come into play to avoid a country benefitting in this way.
