[News] Winter Fuel Payments Are Back

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
The payment is per household but, as I read it, the qualifying income is per person.
Which is what I said. One person will get the full payment, two people will get half each but still the same total.

ALL households earning under £35k should be getting the heating allowance, or none at all. It is only fair.

This is ageist bollocks, as if that generation hasn't had it good enough already.

Absolutely guarantee the younger generations of today won't be getting such discounts - in fact, they'll be lucky to even get the state pension.
If you have paid into the state pension, you will get it...by the way ,twat.

If you look at the original post I replied to you will see my point was only about the qualifying income so you are talking about something totally different.

And at what age and how much will an 18 year old currently working and paying into the state pension get ?

Because if you think they will get the current triple locked pension at 67, you are sadly mistaken. And there's no need to insult people.

*edit* I knew that you'd be incapable of a sensible reply and half expected the laughing emoji. A multitude of idiots already hide behind it.

Please excuse me but ....do f*** off...!

Older people who are retired are often at home ALL day and not working physical jobs, or in centrally heated offices. They are often nowhere near as mobile as they were and younger people are. Good mobility helps keep you warm.

Just in case you didn;'t read the earlier part of my post..."do f*** off".
I take it as an old person who votes you won't be doing what @Mellotron implies and switching your vote to labour to reward the bribe? ???

Given they have been pilloried for the original policy, pilloried for not immediately U turning, pilloried for the prediction they may U turn and now pilloried for U turning, nobody can suggest they did this to harvest votes.

Therefore the only explanation is they have had a think about this, realized they made an error and have sought to correct it.

I mean, what a disgraceful way to carry on.

They shouldn't of been elected in the first place, and shouldn't of agreed to form a government when they were, because they should of realized they were USELESS. Only Nigel can...... (etc. etc.)

No I wont "put an argument together for an average blah, blah, blah".

This comic book forum serves little or no purpose to any political ideology, no matter whether you are left or right. What offends me is the total ignorance of so many (predominantly the left ) of reality., who use this (supposedly .... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: football forum ) as a medium to spread their bile. The elderly do not deserve to be caught up in this here. This forum frequently posts what I consider 'hate' posts against the elderly who lets face it, often includes our own parents..until they are deceased and we the next generation take their place in the "to be hated" queue )

Shame on the Moderators ( Guinness Boy in particular) and to a lesser degree Bozza as well, who has allowed a Brighton and Hove Albion FOOTBALL Forum to sink so low.
Get a grip, FFS.

I believe the reason I don't receive heating allowance is something along the lines of the average annual temperature here is above the necessity of needing help with fuel bills. I'm fine with that and neither do I need it.

With regard to your other point ( not directed at me ), I will leave others to answer, but I do feel the Labour Party,s U turn has absolutely nothing to do with levels , common sense or indeed, most importantly compassion....but simply because they are doing badly in the polls. Very poor Governing in my humble opinion.
Well that is patent nonsense since it clearly won't affect your commitment to the Tories, or Reform, or whoever it is you have taken a shine to

No that's not correct.

Mixed media commentary on this.

An outcry on LBC elsewhere that pensioner households with income up to 2 x £35k will retain WF payments.

The clearest explanation here that the moment one of the pensioners has income greater than £35k, the full WFP is taken back as tax.
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money...rn-Winter-Fuel-Payment-You-income-35-000.html

The bottom line appears to be that 2 x £35k income couple do gain.

Lots of similar on R5.
But I am not sure why they keep reading out emails from people who have got it wrong, without correction....
Anyone would think that large numbers of the public don't know what they are on about.
I'm shocked.

Hang on.....no.
No I'm not shocked.

To raise hackles. LBC interviewed a load of people ‘a random selection on a high street’ all elated over the change, some still with bitterness over last winter. It didn’t seem random at all, they were all pensioners.

I look forward to them eliciting the opinion of turkeys on the mooted vote on scrapping Christmas.
And the follow-up interviews with disgruntled capons, geese and chickens who want to know what's in it for them.
