So essentially, as soon as your club has qualified for the fifth round of the cup or are not fighting relegation come the middle to end of February, you need to put shares in any other European club into a blind trust or sell them? Then if you don't qualify, buy them back if you can?
Maybe don’t own significant shares in multiple clubs that have anywhere near the remotest chance of getting into Europe. Presumably that’s kind of the point behind the rules.

"This UEFA thing is serious; the risk of us being thrown out of Europe is very real and the club is in complete limbo.

Fan action worked in 2010, and we all need to step up again.

We are not a mutli-club model. No-one could have predicted the outcome of last season before the UEFA deadline of 1 March and everyone knows John Textor has no power at the club.

It is ridiculous it has even got this far and is classic UEFA not communicating and yet they make exemptions to actual multi-club organisations lie Red Bull and INEOS.

Sporting integrity, fair play and natural justice are all at stake here - we need to do something and show UEFA they would be robbing us of Europe for the first time in our history.

We won the FA Cup fair and square, it's crazy we are even talking about this.

Alelksander Cerefin's email address is available online and I have emailed him letting him know my thoughts - we need to mobilise Palace fans everywhere and I urge everyone on the BBS to let UEFA know what is at stake,

His email is Aleksander.ceferin@uefa.ch

We were denied in 1991 and we cannot let this happen again."

:lolol:

The oldest club in the world does like to rewrite history.

Ineos complied with the rules so they weren’t granted an exception.

You didn’t qualify in 1991, no one denied you anything.

So in 2023, Tony Bloom must have sold his shares in USG prior to the deadline when it looked like there was a possibility of us qualifying. For some reason, I only thought that this was done after we had qualified.

In fairness, no one of sound mind thought there was the remotest chance of Palace getting into Europe.

I’m not sure if the March 1st deadline applied back then or has been added more recently when they made changes to the format of the European cups.

Tony reduced his shareholding to below the 30% and he has never sat on the board at USG either meaning he has never had any control there whatsoever.

On March 1st 2023 we were 8th, 4 points off 6th but with 2 or 3 games in hand on some of the teams above us. So if the deadline did apply TB obviously backed us and USG to both make European competition.

Just spoke to someone in London, claiming to be a Palace fan with a loose friend connection to Parish. He says they are genuinely worried. They went into the meeting thinking they could just demonstrate easily that there was no conflict and came out of it with a "flea in their ear" and real concern that UEFA will strictly apply the rule.

Probably all brinkmanship, but sounds like they do have a very serious concern now.

Amazing that they appear to have thought they could rock up, say sorry and explain that it's not really a problem old chap. Amateurs.
Reading between the lines here, the ‘blind trust’ proposal was rejected out of hand but the door was not closed otherwise there would have been an announcement by now that they were being excluded on ineligibility grounds. My guess is that a shareholder restructuring was hinted at possibly with a deadline set. Given the previous squabbling that might be unresolvable in a short period.
They should really have been working on this before March 1st. It really is that simple. Not thinking you'll qualify via league position or the FA Cup is a nonsense excuse and deserves ridicule
Okay. Any business turning their finances around should have somebody in place to monitor and ensure compliance with these things. In the real world somebody overlooking something that would have generated massive kudos and income would be sacked here.

Best guess - it was reported to the board but they thought it was unlikely to be an issue so no action was taken. As Beaky has the golden vote, egg is all over his face whichever way you look at it.

If UEFA cave it'll set a dangerous precedent. Will render there dual ownership rules pointless going forward.

All power to them I say!!
Everyone knows the rules, that's why Bloom sold his share in USG, Marinakis put his Forest shares in a blind trust etc etc, why should palace be an exception? Textor owns Lyon who will be playing in the Europa League and 43% of palace, of course there is a conflict of interest.

It's clear cut, a shame for their fans of course, but the rules are there for a reason.

Not sure Bloom would, but wouldn't be surprised if Marinakis sued UEFA if they allow Palace in.

Putting Forest in a blind trust must have been a real balls ache for him, and you'd say that he isn't one for doing the conventional but he toed the line and did it for the sake of his clubs. He'd be livid if they waved palace through so yes I think he would sue UEFA. I wonder what sort of a financial hit Tony Bloom took on his USG shares as well?

palace have been stupid, this was all so avoidable.

Is there not an issue if they let the Nigels in but Mr Bloom had to sell his shares in USG so we could play in Europe?

If the USG shares have risen in value (which I presume they have) from the price he was forced to sell at, would he not be able to sue UEFA for his loss for abiding by a rule which turns out to be a rule that UEFA aren't going to enforce anyway?

Well quite, talk about trying to move the goalposts. I'm sure all those owners of multi-clubs are looking on with great interest. Over to you UEFA...
