And there was me thinking that a League table over 38 games meant it all balanced out and you finish where you deserve to be
I don't always think that's true. The season we finished 6th, we shoulda finished 5th or 4th. Not because of games we dominated but didn't win, but because of incorrect officiating decisions.

The game that really stopped all momentum was the home draw against Southampton, win and we would of moved to second , instead we went on a long run of 9 games without a win , that was the period that cost us European football

No. The period that cost us European football was the two minutes when officials decided goalkeepers could act as though the whole pitch is their area.

I must admit, that spurs game still pisses me off, but I'll stick with my original statement

It wasn't just that game. We were denied a potential 13 points in total. Clear penalties not given v Villa, Brentford and Leicester for starters. I know this sounds myopic, but they were all stonewall.

IMO it’s reasonable for fans to say “if only this one game had gone our way” - maybe even two. But once the conversation turns to three or more matches you could have, should have won, you’re firmly in “if my grandmother had wheels” territory.

Yeah I get you, but… if we’d beaten Forest, Ipswich, Wolves, Southampton, Brentford and Leicester at home instead of drawing with them and also done the double over Palace and beaten Everton and Villa at home then we would have been Champions.

These are fine margins. It was that close.

When has he ever prioritised infrastructure over players considering he spent over £200m in transfer fees last summer?
You’ve got to remember that about 10 years ago, THPP had the theory that Bloom only bought the Albion, built the Amex and funded annual operating losses so that he could build a hotel next to the A27.

Everybody remembers the what ifs when it meant us losing points, but there are also moments that got us points we could easily have lost.

Bournemouth smashed the bar with the final kick of the game, we drew at home to Arsenal because of a penalty most neutrals felt shouldn't have been given, Salah missed a sitter at the Amex last week, Man United had a goal ruled out against us by one of their players needlessly touching it when offside etc.

Even NSC’ers felt VAR robbed Stains a winner at the Amex.

When he finally gets that hotel our club will become extinct

Yeh, it’s clearly his end game. I mean why would you not just buy some land and build a hotel when you can do it in a convoluted manner that involves sinking 300m into a sport known for making millionaires out of billionaires?

Way to simplistic to to use the what ifs in certain games.

The butterfly effect and once small occurance effecting are much larger system come to mind.

The weiffer pass had a physical effect in the game, how do we assess how it had a psycholical effect in the following games, for all we know it might have had a positive effect long term and pulled the team together? Had we beaten wolves we may have just made a similar mistake/ outcome in a different game, similar principle with Forest and the mindset afterwards.

How many what ifs in Arsenal and Liverpools season, had Monday been a must win for Liverpool, would we have won?

The newcastle cup win, in hindsight a loss would have been better, Rutter wouldn't have ended up injured against forest and we likely would have done better through that period league wise.

I’ve seen this a few times today, and it was being discussed on the Together BHA podcast, as if that game was somehow close and that we were ever in with a chance of winning it??
Bizarrely though we were doing fine till Dunk's OG. If we had scored first, we may well have won it - I think that was the whole game plan. But we just fell apart once we went behind.

Shipping 7 in that game against Forest ultimately made no difference. If we'd only lost by 1, we'd still be in the same spot.
I we’d only lost that Forest game by 1 or 2 goals and not thrown away the 2-0 leads against Wolves & Leicester then we would have finished above Forest on goal difference

Fair comment.
Not many can say they let 2-0 leads go at 85 minutes plus….. twice…

As per OP, as it happens it wasn’t a factor….

The Easy Six showing was pitiful. And the rest. Some shockers in there and beyond. Largely forgiven on account of some unlikely wins against The Historical Big Six. Positives just about outweighed the negatives in an utterly erratic season. Next season could be anything. Doubtless depends on whether TB prioritises spending on infrastructure over players
I've got a feeling about next season.

My grandmother proudly poops about in her wheelchair. Those two games were implosions of the first magnitude. And we don't need another win to be with Grannie; merely winning these two and getting stuffed 4-0 at Forest would have sufficed.
