Thanks - super helpful info. Didn’t realise how far from the centre it was. Even 10k cap will be about the best I could hope for at this point with the band.

Now just got to sort cheap accommodation for the 6 of us in the city centre….
Good luck. If you want a second opinion on locations to stay give me a shout.

The joys of Show Film First...

Ticket tonight for Daryl Hall/Glenn Tillbrook at the Centre, row D for £7.50 ( face value £97.75! )

Got it really for Glenn but hope to be pleasantly surprised by Mr Hall who was never really my cup of tea in the 80's

Yeah the only London venues Fontaines have played on this tour are Alexandra Palace and Finsbury Park, both of which I dislike. I particularly remember an Oasis gig in 2002 being awful at Finsbury Park.

Love Berlin and so no hardship to spend a few days in the city.
I was also at Oasis at Finsbury Park in 2002.

Agree totally, it was a miserable experience. Crowd karaoke made it impossible to hear the band, and beer being thrown everywhere, all the time.

I recommend you tap into HT’s advice - his knowledge of the best bars and areas is second to none.

Don’t judge me too hard….booked a Premier Inn at Alexanderplatz. Price too good. £64 per night (5 nights total) for a family room (2 adults/2 kids).
That's fine. Whilst there's little to do around Alexanderplatz it's well connected for getting to all the areas where the fun is.

@Herr Tubthumper I’ve booked to see Fontaines DC at the Spandau Citadel in August. Hoping you can provide some local expertise. Is it any good as a venue? Rough capacity? Can I walk it from Potsdamer Platz? I have realistic expectations but am hoping it will provide a better experience than 40,000 at Finsbury Park.

Me and the boy are going too, think we might even be staying in that same Premier Inn. See you there.

Feel sorry for the people who paid a fair bit to see Daryl Hall last night at the Centre...

His voice pretty much gone, solos extremely ropey and pretty much carried by the band and ,latterly, Glenn Tilbrook ( who was excellent )

Miserable (unt to boot, and had two pissed Jock pensioners on my right talking loudly before leaving early after words from the people in front...

Back to reality with MJ Lenderman on Friday

I find it staggering the numbers I’ve heard people are paying to relive those experiences this summer. Oasis were already rubbish live by the time I saw them in the late 90’s. Goodness knows what they’ll be like nearly 30 years later.

Tried to get Metallica tickets today, 150 for pitch outside of the two inner levels…..and the site crashed when I was trying to make the payment. I have no tickets and 3 times 300 euros charged to my card.

Also noticed there is price surging applied to this gig.

I have emailed asking for my money back. Don’t think I’ll bother with this now.

You know you’re getting old when you think tables at a gig are a good idea

Michael Monroe at the Concorde last night was f**king class. Cannot believe he is 62, so much energy, still raw and still rocking. Great night. Well worth braving the weather to trek down there.

To be fair I've seen Queens of the Stone Age, Sam Fender and Pulp at Finsbury Park recently and its been fine, they've made quite a few improvements, not an optimal venue though.

I saw Arctic Monkeys there, and The Stone Roses. As you say, it was fine (except for the monstrosity that Ian Brown’s voice had become). Still don’t like the venue, though.

The Oasis gig was a horrible experience, though, and as @morematey says, I can’t believe their summer gigs will be any better.

This threads given me many tips over the years and so here’s a bit of payback….Wet Leg have quickly announced they are doing a Resident Records Outstore at Chalk in July. Tickets on sale at 10 this morning via Dice app. £19.
Thanks - me and Mrs Mahone have just bought one each, as have several of my friends.
