I'm not sure 'grifter' is the right description for Trump, personally. Farage, yes.

I'm not sure it is either but 'Someone who is only interested in growing their own individual wealth and power, and will lie and obfuscate to that end, at the expense of all those they've been elected to represent' didn't quite fit in the thread title

Both have made a load of money by building influence through doing nothing but providing an outlet for people's complaints and fears while offering zero in the way of practical solutions that'll make life better for most who support them. Absolutely grifters. By definition politicians too, and successful ones in that they get elected, but not serious ones.

I have been very clear on my thoughts on the Orange Buffoon.

But you really do have to respect his ability to extort in broad daylight and STILL retain the support of tens of millions of people. It's extraordinary how obviously corrupt and self-serving he is without any risk of facing any real consequences. He solicited the plane he's now been "gifted". He's lifting sanctions, as US President, on Iran in order to gain funding and planning permission for a new tower in his name and/or a golf course. He's hit every country in the world with tariffs, but will reduce them in exchange for favourable terms for his various business ventures (note Thailand, who are willing to gift him land for a golf course in exchange for lowering the tariffs). He's the most successful bully on a global scale we've ever seen. Bravo to him for guaranteeing his family's wealth for generations.

Nothing like a look at me aren't I cool thread when there are TWO perfectly adequate threads discussing both these individuals. Pity the thread can't be merged with both the CURRENT threads.

Do you really need a poll?

Do we really need another thread on these two?

Not up to your usual standard WZ.

I’m disappointed and it’s going to take some time to process this.

I think that it will obviously be heavily weighted to one poll option, but the split options are the interesting ones, as to what differences people see between them that makes one a serious politician and not the other ? And I couldn't add it to the other threads as there aren't any comparing the two, just one Farage thread and one Trump one.

If you're right and we don't need it, then it will plunge down the board, such is the NSC way

Trump is a poisonous, bullying, dangerous grifter.
Farage is just a buffoon and chancer.

He's a lot of other things but certainly a grifter to boot

They’re both grifters, but with different methods and for different ends.

Both want money, power and influence. For Trump it’s to keep himself out of prison. For Farage it’s to impose his twisted worldview on us.

It’s all good, I was only pulling your leg. All discussion is good.

For me, the devil is not in how we perceive them but how they perceive themselves.

Trump; Zero self-awareness. A man with genuine narcissistic personality disorder who believes he has some kind of divine right to rule, be lauded, and rewarded for what he sees as excellent work.

I think he views financially f***ing over the world as a good day’s work just as much as he thinks lying about his health records is a good thing.
He believe he is the right man in the right place at the right time.
He’s a narcissistic fantasist who might not actullay think he can solve the world’s problems but wants everyone else to think he can.

Farage? He knows exactly what he is.

A SPIV in a wax jacket. He is under no illusion that he’s a grifter, a con man, a shyster who’s found a little niche to tuck himself into.

Sat in the corner of some greasy pub, shaking hands with brickies and cab drivers and then washing his hands in Perrier before his caviar and champagne supper.

Portrays himself as both working class and landed gentry.

With his flat cap and Barbour costume.

Sticking feathers up your arse does not make you a chicken.

Trump would turn up to the opening of an envelope and push everyone out of the way to get to the front.
Farage doesn’t turn up to anything. He does most of his “work” via Zoom.

Two loathsome arses, coming from very different psychological landscapes but with very similar goals and outcomes; divide, sow seeds of hatred, smash the most vulnerable to pieces. Make a f***ing stack in the process.

Dig a f***ing ditch from sea to shining sea.

Farage does not have any real sort of "Worldview " at all, let alone twisted. His market is purely about opposition for opposition's sake. He's refined his act over the years in order to garner more cash and acolytes. He genuinely has no solutions to any problems and his " Manifesto " is always remarkably vague on policy or numbers.

Always remember how he used to use Fishing as a bellweather to attack the EU, but, unfortunately found himself on the EU Fisheries Committee, a chance to really influence and direct EU Fisheries policies and quotas. He was there, he could have voiced concerns, he could have suggested or proposed any number of changes to EU Fishing policies that may have impacted UK fishing and fish stocks.

But, he decided not to attend meetings. Famously having his arse handed to him on a plate by Guy Verhofstadt who pointed out his non attendance yet his remarkable ability to never overlook an expenses claim. Subsequently having to pay back £35,000 in dodgy claims. That is your "Man Of The People "... " Our Nige" Telling it as it is 🤣

Trump meanwhile. is just deranged.
