Nothing like a look at me aren't I cool thread when there are TWO perfectly adequate threads discussing both these individuals. Pity the thread can't be merged with both the CURRENT threads.
I didn't realise there was a restriction on the number of thread about individuals on here, or the actual content...

Personally, I think the title/subject is different enough from a general thread about both of them to warrant it's own thread, but there we go. If you disagree, if only there was some way of ignoring the thread

I have been very clear on my thoughts on the Orange Buffoon.

But you really do have to respect his ability to extort in broad daylight and STILL retain the support of tens of millions of people. It's extraordinary how obviously corrupt and self-serving he is without any risk of facing any real consequences. He solicited the plane he's now been "gifted". He's lifting sanctions, as US President, on Iran in order to gain funding and planning permission for a new tower in his name and/or a golf course. He's hit every country in the world with tariffs, but will reduce them in exchange for favourable terms for his various business ventures (note Thailand, who are willing to gift him land for a golf course in exchange for lowering the tariffs). He's the most successful bully on a global scale we've ever seen. Bravo to him for guaranteeing his family's wealth for generations.
But isn't this because opposition politicians, leaders of other countries, all interviewers / media outlets are failing to say "no. you are wrong" to the tangerine toddler?

No good comes from accepting rude, unruly, unacceptable behaviour by a child who lies at every opportunity.

Both only have a place in our politics due to the ongoing failure of both of our and the US’s “main” political parties.

Post-Blair, the very best we have been offered in the UK is “managed decline.”

Similarly in the US, living costs have risen faster than wages, and neither side appears to be offering anything substantial to correct this. “Suck it up boys and girls” appears to be the message from our mainstream politicians.

As such, a significant proportion of voters have determined that the status quo is not working.

At that point, people begin voting for anything different in ever greater numbers. Ideally, they’d like things fixed, but if they can’t have things fixed, then their next best vote is to vote for the person threatening to burn it all down.

That was at the root of Brexit, it is at the root of Trump’s success, and it’s got the potential to deliver Reform substantial gains at the next election.
