The Sun, The Mail , The Express, The Telegraph, they lied in 2016 and they’re still lying to everyone today.

Still amazes me it was only 52 48

It just shows how unhinged those at the top of the Brexit movement still are. There is no reasoning with them.

When the richest 5% have gained 12% on their fortunes, the media is owned by non dom millionaire, we’re not going to read any different. Money & power are heady motivations.

So EU fishing rights are staying the same as they are now for another 12 years and the billionaire right-wing media owners are convinced they can pull the wool over the country's eyes.

The deal on rights was Johnson’s deal rolled over

However, The new deal on food means that the fish caught in British waters can now be processed and sold into the EU without veterinary checks, eliminating huge costs created by Brexit.

Great news for shellfish producers and the like. But as usual a huge chunk of the UK press are incapable of doing their job to inform the public.

This isn’t a bad part of our economy but it’s good news we can export the fish and Brits don’t like eating. It’s a pity we’re missing out

Underlined in a brilliant BBC prog last night Scandinavia with Simon Reeve, this time in Finland. There was a long passage about their threat from Russia and their readiness. We're stronger as one in as many ways as possible.
This sums up part of the stupidity of the EU. (For those on here that can accept the EU has imperfections.)

I agree, the defence parrt of the agreement (although not yet agreed, it's only pro forma) is a Good Thing for both us and the EU. So why did they have to tie it in with fishing rights and agricultural paperwork and the ECJ and the rest? Why didn't they just agree, for mutual benefit, to to go ahead with the defence part?

As a general rule, deals that are good for both sides shouldn't need negotiations on how much one of the beneficiaries shoud pay the other.

The stupidity of the EU ? Not letting nations outside the EU cherry pick bits of the EU they want ? Well there is certainly plenty of stupidity on this thread :dunce:

I would have thought you would get far more support for your unwavering devotion to all things Brexit and Farage on your own team's forum, maybe give it a try

We are gaining, hugely. Over 100k work in the UK food industry, which can now seamlessly export to the EU, our much loved niche produce.

There will always be give and take and remember, the junior partner always loses. Its a decision you took to get your country back.

The deal of fisheries and food is a lot better than what Johnson couldn't be arsed with in 2019. If I recall, getting Brexit done was his only mission, he didn't care about the detail and probably didn't read the agreement.

Still it was good enough to make the slob Frost a Lord

I heard her on the TV this morning it was a total rant which along with Deforms response sounded like a rehash of the original Brexit lies which can only play out well for Labour
Sadly there are millions willing to buy all this nonsense, still.
However, I'm pleased that Starmer is getting on with things without making a fuss about it.
This is probably the only way to manage what amounts to the slow and careful removal of a weapon of self-harm.

Its a start, positive for travel, business and security.

I'd like to see a deal on youth mobility, having an arrangement with Andorra, San Marino and Monaco isn't very helpful.

I think that's the end of Labour.... Set the table for Reform, and they're going to be hungrier then ever.
I agree that it’s a gift for Reform. They no longer have to worry about policies. They’ll just ride on this.

But at the very least it’s shows that intelligent people are prepared to ignore the dummies and go ahead with making sensible deals.

It’s a glimmer of hope for both the UK and for Starmer, who I thought was a busted flush. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt for a while.

Nicky Campbell phone in on R5....

"Brexit hasn't worked because it hasn't happened. We haven't left the EU!"
"Starmer is just handing back control to Brussels"
"I'm worried that with cheaper exports, we will be getting cheaper imports - and how much will this cost?"
"France tried to cut off power to the Channel Islands"

These people are f***ing mad.
