I enjoyed that cushioned touch on the halfway into the path of (I think) Pervis almost as much as the one on the touch line. Genius.

Caicedo is the best. Only player I’ve ever seen who has been as good as having two players. Probably then Mitoma.

Get another year of Baleba and he probably goes to P1.
I’d actually agree with this. Caicedo is a generational talent. Already Chelsea’s player of the season. That ability to just get a foot in constantly, he was the heart of everything we did.
The only reason we don’t recognise this more as fans is because of the way he left

Struggling to remember a player for any club who can bring a ball out of the air and kill it dead better than Mitoma

He's up there with the best in history.

. That one on the touchline yesterday was breathtaking, up there with the one he went on to score with against Chelsea.

Eh? Yesterday was cool and what we've come to expect from him, but it wasn't even closer to the goal against Chelsea. The one against Chelsea was 1) over his shoulder at full speed and 2) required precise control.

Yesterday's wasn't either of those things. But it was worthy of the cheer.

I’m going for Mitoma, more exciting to watch imo
...and, similarly, how he controlled the high bounce to tuck away his goal last night.

Gonna mix it up a bit.

Whilst Mitoma has brilliant ball control, a footballing brain, a great turn, a cut inside etc etc…….almost everything, when attacking a defender down the wing he is so bloody predictable! You just know, as must the defender, that he is going to cut inside at some point

You know that on many occasions Mitoma will take it to the goal line and then cut it back for someone to score?

Caicedo was unbelievable, and he'll go on to better things than Chelsea in my opinion (rumour has it he was a boyhood Real Madrid/Barcelona/Al Nassr fan). His ability to dominate from that DM position allowed those in front of him to create and attack because they didn't need to think about what was happening behind him. The fact that Mac Allister did more than his shift defensively was a credit to his own work rate though.

In short, Caicedo was the most complete defensive midfielder and Mac Allister our best all round player, but I would pay to watch Mitoma. He is a total joy of a footballer.

I suspect that once their careers are over, "which club had Caicedo and Mac Allister at the same time?" will be a pub-quiz question that mostly only Brighton fans will answer correctly

Maybe I need new specs cos I rarely see him crossing with his left foot from the byline out wide?

I hope I'm wrong but I doubt we'll ever see another midfield like it in the stripes. Truly spoiled. That said, our depth is better now. A midfield from any of Baleba, Ayari, Hinshelwood, Weiffer, O'Riley isn't too shabby at all. If we keep all of them and they stay fit, then we have some very tasty options

Given that he's only got 3 assists this season, I'd say a max of 3 isn't quite "many", although that may be more down to our astounding ability to pea roll shots at the keeper's feet or balloon them into row Z whenever the ball goes in and around the penalty area

His first touch is Bergkamp/Berbatov-esque. Just ridiculously good.

Why is Mitoma not starting. Why did he not come on at half time when we were 2-1 down
Surely everyone can see he's playing through an injury no? He's constantly holding his back and can barely last half an hour. After his run through the centre last night I thought he might have to go off again such was his grimacing and wincing. As I said elsewhere I'm pretty sure that if we didn't need him so much he'd out have been out for the season several weeks ago. I just hope we can sort him out in the close season - wouldn't be surprised if he needs an op.
