We're fortunate to have all four players - but the only one I'd gamble my house on to win another trophy is Adam Wharton. He's by far the best of the lot.

I have been impressed in Eze this season.
I had always considered him a flat track bully, never delivering in big matches.
He's certainly put that to bed, this season.

I hate VAR and I love Wazza BUT, this is the problem with how we see incidents like that - We have a gut reaction and stick with it. The VAR gods explain the decision, we don't like it so we say just get rid of it. Also, each of the pundits kept repeating the 'possible goal-scoring opportunity' mantra, it's not, it's 'obvious goal-scoring opportunity'.

I'm sticking with my original reaction as well, would have been harsh!

Eze has been quality and the carthorse up front has been a revelation. Yet, still, they Hodgson'ed their way to winning the cup with the help of incompetent/biassed officials and the orc refusing to take a penalty.

Enough bedwetting over this. Another club won a trophy and qualified for Europe instead of us. Happens and will happen every year. Just because it's Palace doesn't define our season. We don't need to scrutinise what they do. Control what you can control blah blah. We've actually had a great season. Could still finish top 10. Had a Cup run. Bedded in a new manager and players to replace a few important departures. Our season has been good. We are surely better than grizzling just because Palace won a trophy.

It was an extremely obvious goalscoring opportunity. If Henderson hadn't handled it the orc had a completely open goal to roll the ball into.

You are correct that the offence is a denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity.i believe it was one of them. I was taught as a ref that obvious meant 3 things

1) if in the box, was the intention to play the ball a footballing one, i.e was the defender trying to do something legitimate (such as an attempt to win the ball) that went wrong. This is to prevent double jeopardy and every penalty being a sending off

2) was the striker likely to get a shot on target

3) was there a defending player between the person committing the offence and the goal

The var statement why they didn't give a red was because it wasn't a certain goalscoring opportunity. But that isn't the rules. We've moved from likely to certainty and that's not what DOGSO was written for. That is what Rooney is upset about and I have to agree with him.

I basically never bet. The last time I placed a bet must have been more than 20 years ago. But I got a sense of the inevitability of a Croydon cup win just before the semi and placed an insurance bet. Placed a £25 bet and made a little over £160.
