change of football director type staff a while back delayed any new contract offer over a year ago, as they seemed to assume he would re-sign no matter what, during the six months or so they made him wait for a contract offer, he clearly changed his mind

Why didn't Liverpool press him to sign a year ago?
They bagged Salah and Virtual (OK, recently).
Maybe they figured he isn't worth what he wants.
A mutual decision, then.
No need for (some) supporters to get titsy.
Oh Liverpool can only blame themselves with the situation, and completely agree they got very lucky to tie down VVD and Salah so late on.

Players have far too much power and earn too much money. I can understand why working class blokes from Anfield booed him to be fair.

Less sympathy with any booing Estate Agents from Kingston.

But player demands is why my son’s mates can’t all afford to watch us at the moment while us well off old codgers can.

Fair point.

Could they? What were other clubs offering?
Real Madrid offered them a (relatively) low fee in January.

Liverpool turned it down.

Instead they get nothing. That's not Alexander-Arnold's problem.

Would we boo him when subbed on to play his final home game for us?

Thought some of the Liverpool support let themselves down today.
My mate Bob was surprised.
Then (aftertiming) not surprised.....
Is this entitlement and classless one-eyed wankerdom,
or perfectly reasonable 'with us or against us' winner mentality?
I feel it is the former.
Poor show. Liverpool now on a par with Chelsea....maybe.
Sums their fan base up in one. Disgraceful bin dipping ****s.

While this is true you (and I) have no idea what the player or agent were asking for.

That TAA is the only one not to extend suggests that either he was asking for an unrealistic contract, in which case they’re right not to give in, or he really wanted to leave, in which case he should have mini extended like Ali Mac did with us.
If a player has a contract, and they see that out, I don't really see why anybody should have a problem with it. They've literally held up their end of the bargain.

I'm guessing (without making any effort to check) that MacAllister and his agent were paid more for the short extension they signed with us? He handled it as well as he could have done and far better than most of these go, but I wouldn't expect any player to agree an extension like that without getting something in return. They could easily get hacked down the next game and the transfer dissappears out the window.

Also, his contract runs out in the summer (presumably, again I'm not interested in the minutae enough to check), when's he meant to extend to?

a better parallel would be a Solly March who had a better fitness record than the real one running down his contract to leave us for a club we think is our equal. It doesn’t matter how deluded other fans think Liverpool ones are for refusing to acknowledge that Real Madrid is a bigger club a lot of Liverpool fans think nobody is bigger than them. We, on the other hand, could hardly pretend (even to ourselves) that we’re as big as Real Madrid. As far as am I concerned Liverpool and Man United are part of the European elite.
