Lewis Dunk, that’s all.
Because it is too soon for the rest. Welbs is getting there.

Legend status requires longevity and/or impact*. Goals lowers the bar a bit though (Ward, Zamora, Murray).

But we have never achieved anything so most of our legend fishing has to be done in a tier 3 longevity pond,
where impact is 'relative', and anyone properly good gets sold quickly,
and those who remain, are largely journeymen.

*So I expect that we will look back at our last 4 finishes in years to come and see many legends,
especially if it turns out the last 4 years was 'peak Albion'.

The answer for me is dunk.

As a side note.

At the end of his career career what kit do you think general football fans I.e. not just Brighton will picture Welbeck in? Has he been with us long enough to be in a Brighton kit? At the moment I expect many would still picture him in United or Arsenal kits.

More games for us than anyone.
More goals for us than anyone.

United it is, then.
That's how it works.

Interesting, if Muzza is doing media for FAC semi, whether he he referred to as 'former Brighton striker',
as has become usual, or 'former Palace and Brighton striker', as would be 'OK' for a day,
or the craven and most likely 'former Palace striker'.

Mitoma feels like a no-brainer for the all-time legends list for me.

One of the best players to have ever played for the club, in the strongest ever history-making Albion side. He has ability, loyalty, humility and he has scored some of the greatest, if not THE greatest, Albion goals of all time.
Yes but you are allowing current status to meld with recency bias to produce an assessment a 15 year old would make.

We older people who have seen it all don't care what teenagers think about football.
We just nod and say "that's nice, dear".

Lewis Dunk is the only answer.

Mitoma, I would like to see him stay with the Albion for a few more seasons and he definitely will be one.

No disrespect to Jack Hinshelwood but i don’t know why a young player that has just come into the first team is on the list. Hopefully he will go on to make as many appearances as Lewis and become a legend.

Shoot me but I get the distinct impression that GM is more Palace than Brighton inclined as to his favourite club of the two

Dunk and Solly for me.

One club( so far) local lads.
Dunky because of, well, he’s Dunky, as the song says”Withdean to Wembley “

Solly, very underrated at times, and even unfairly maligned by certain fans,, never ever complained.
Returned from 2 career ending type knee injuries. The determination of the man to be the best footballer for our club that he could be,

He, for me, encompasses the guts, tenacity, and sheer determination of our small club and its rise from the 92nd club in the League to Europe.

Also, scored the goal against Wigan that sealed our promotion to the Premier League

As an aside, is Dunk taking his coaching badges? Curious as to what his future might hold.

Dunk and Solly for me.

Unfortunately Danny came to us too late in his career to be an Albion legend (Premier legend, maybe) but there's still a chance of Kaoru making it.

Of the youngsters JPVH and Jack could be, but they would have to be here a long long time yet.

Looking at that list I’d say
Dunk
Ward
Steve Foster
Zamora

As for Storer and Reinelt they both obviously scored important goals but I don’t feel this alone qualifies them as club legends.
Their single acts alone made them club legends.

You don’t require longevity or consistency to be a legend.

Leaving out our best ever captain Nobby Horton?

Without the goals from SS and RR we would have probably been starting again as a club so that is enough for me to give them legend status! Unlikely we’d be anywhere near the club we are now and would TB have even got involved?
I see Storer and Reinelt more as saviours in times of perilous crisis. We really weren't very good at football at the time but they were an integral part of that fight We did survive.

I thought you didn’t approve of playing the man rather than the ball?

My evidence (opinion) is drawn from listening to him commentating on games…
Merely a comment on your disdain for 'research'
My impression is that Muzza is impeccably neutral when wing-manning.
It is true that he seems to be popular with a higher proportion of Palace supporters than Brighton supporters,
some of whom still seem to think he is a Judas for not signing a new contract when the Albion,
lead by Poyet on this, refused to pay the extra £2.5K a week that would have kept him with us.

On the playing side

Dunk
Wardy and Mellor
Nobby Horton
Steve Foster
Stuart Storer
Robbie Reinelt
Lawrenson
Zamora
I’ll also go with Gordon Smith because of the goal he did score - a highlight of my years supporting. The upper tier of Wembley bounced like the dance floor at Blackpool when that went in
Jimmy Case

and probably others but just one from the list posted for me.

I would have gone for Bruno…but!!
Blimey…..
We couldn’t afford all those statues….

Whatever, I have always been a big fan of Murray on the pitch from the moment he arrived here. I never slagged him off, as many did, for his laconic (lazy) style of play and was genuinely gutted when he went to Palace. Doubly so when his goals got them into the playoffs. Never thought of him as a Judas as it was a Poyet gaffe that led to him leaving and I was thrilled when he came back. Doesn’t change my OPINION of where his heart lies though

I agree.

Once we go down the route of:

Tommy Cook,
Tug Wilson,
Denis Foreman,
Bert Murray,
Stewart Henderson
Kit Napier,
Peter O'Sullivan,

and so on,

we are getting into difficult territories, since every one of our current squad is in a different league from any of those.

So, as usual this is a silly-arse Mustafa poll.
Who knew?

Incidentally, why do we never hear about our record ever top scorer in the top flight which, according to Wiki, with 37, is . . . . . Michael Robinson?
I think they have totted up his league and cup goals and misrepresented them as league goals.
He's not a legend as far as I am concerned, but mainly because I was living overseas and had lost the connection.
