Typical American - doesn't even know his own star sign.
From what I understand of Leo's views he is much closer to the progressive end of the Catholic scale, so I don't see the correlation with your insinuation that he is the result of some kind of right wing conspiracy.‘Would never have happened if Biden was President’.
I suspect there has been some strong political lobbying to get this through and tbh an American Pope was something I have been suspecting ever since the American far right/Steve Bannon‘s ties to the conservative wing of the Vatican became apparent.

‘Maga Catholics’ are gaining ground in the US. Now their sight is set on the Vatican

Not only that, some very bad people seem very upset about the #WokePope. So that's a plus from my POVFrom what I understand of Leo's views he is much closer to the progressive end of the Catholic scale, so I don't see the correlation with your insinuation that he is the result of some kind of right wing conspiracy.
I certainly don't see any evidence for his being "antithetical to Francis" as that article suggests Bannon et al wanted.
I'm gonna suggest that "already called" is bullshit. I know right? Fancy not trusting the president of the United States.
Besides, surely if he just got elected Pope he probably called his wife and kids first!![]()
That's just silly...
It'll be on NBC this fall joining their "Chicago" lineup of Fire, PD, Med and Justice

Wow! I've heard the Pope called many things (often quite rude things by my stepfather's Glaswegian Protestant family), but I've never heard him described as a 'Marxist Puppet'. Could be good! Not only that, some very bad people seem very upset about the #WokePope. So that's a plus from my POV

It's all getting quite commercial. Think they've chosen Leo to tie in with the Lions tour of Australia.Pope Bob = Excellent.
Pope Robbie = Pretty, pretty good.
Pope Rob = Good enough.
Pope Bobby = I'd take it.
But ....
Pope Leo?? WTF!!!
Why are they getting rid of one of the best things about him??
C'mon dude....even the Pope cant pull off that miracle!!!From Chicago too.
Deep dish communion wafers?
Blessed are da Bears, for they will inherit the Super Bowl?

In other words, the Catholic Church is an enormous Republican voting bloc in the US, having an American Pope will revitalise the Catholic Church there as it does in every Country from where a Pope comes. Trump won 54% of the Catholic vote last November so he will be careful not to alienate Pope Leo but he will certainly do everything he can to appropriate the idea of an American Pope to boost his own support base. Policies on abortion, LBQGT for example are big voting issues - having an American Pope will allow Trump to use that Republican alignment with traditional Catholicism to greater effect than he has to date.
In that case I await the inevitable freeing of the Vatican state in the US interest, after the conquering of Greenland and Canada.Surely though, if having an American Pope with a relatively liberal viewpoint does revitalise the Catholic Church in the US, it will do so by means of attracting people who to at least some extent align with those relatively liberal views?
Such people are less likely to vote red, and 4% is not a huge majority. I would suggest that any revitalisation will not be favourable to the GOP and may in fact result in the Catholic majority going blue next time.
