I agree about the allowing priests to marry bit, and about women priests. I am a member of the Methodist Church which has had women ministers for several decades.
BUT I can‘t See any correlation between allowing priests to marry and child abuse. It reminds me of a conversation i had very nearly 40 years ago talking about a gay male couple who had just moved in next door to us. We had two small girls at the time - aged 4 and 2 - and the person I was talking to asked me if it worried me with the girls and the neighbours.
I pointed out that the last thing a happy male homosexual couple is going to be interested in is two little girls, who might interest heterosexual paedophiles.

"Gay" and "paedophile" are two seperate things.........wish I could elaborate, but uneasy about it.............

It looks (given that I'm not Catholic and don't follow Catholic cardinals, so this is based on a few minutes of Googling) that his views are considered to be on the progressive side and somewhat inline with Pope Francis (who appointed him Cardinal in the first place). So I'm not sure that's a MAGA win.
