Pointless question as it's not the sort of thing he would say. And certainly not from the same heart.

He never had a Empirical and lofty idea of what Britain is/was.

As folk have said 'flag shagging' is a very odd pastime. I mean, I'm perfectly happy and indeed rather fortunate to be English. But any desire to wear identity with an encompassing and evangelical zeal is a bit needy and insecure. As cringe as it sounds, I just like to identify with my own humanity before any flag is raised. I'm just a human being who happens to be English, not the other way round.

Nothing wrong with loving your own country (although I love my adopted county more) but all this rubbish we are getting at the moment is some insecure need to be something (again). I'm quite patriotic, except when I'm not. But, nationalistic, no. Patriotism being a love for my own country, nationalism being a loathing desire to be better, or perceive as being better, than others. I have no time for that.

Putting flags up doesn't pay the bills.

Quite, why people fell for it so many times is inexplicable.

So is why people are turning to someone else who promised his great idea would reduce numbers and then made them sky rocket.

That is without the addressing the fact that people are listening to the people with all the power and money as they persuade them that some poor fucker with nothing but the shirt of his back in a rubber ring in the middle of the English channel is to blame for their lot, not the people who have the power and money.

Inexplicable I know, but here we are.

If ECHR is to be removed (again, unlikely at the moment) then I'd fully expect and hope a British bill of human rights to be implemented instead of losing all our rights currently granted by the ECHR.

But also the Irish issue would have to be navigated - let's not forget that

It's a national shame that in 2025 we have people drowning in the channel.

I totally agree, and all the money that the tory government wasted in being ****s to these people to try and scare them away could have been saved by putting in some kind of mechanism for getting them to the UK safely.

Again it's inexplicable that people were persuaded to vote for the ineffective and ridiculously expensive solution that didn't and was never going to work. (Because of it had worked the government would have lost one of its few vote winning policies).
